the concept is awesome. this is forward thinking for the skateboarding world. the only drawback i foresee is the structural integrity of the hinges and what will happen when weight is applied while riding.

Someone finally realising this is a concept piece! It was for an art show in Wellington. I am from the UK, but living in New Zealand at the moment.
I have had a ‘load of pricks’ talking shit about the piece on sites such as ‘like cool’ and ‘craziest gadgets’, saying how it ‘was a waste of materials’ ‘would never work’ et al.
I refuse to comment on such sites, as I am constantly in awe of how any ill-educated morons with bad research skills can have an uninformed opinion on the internet.
The piece was for a show called carry on, where a number of US pros/industry types, including Senn, Steinhorst and Chris Ortiz, brought art pieces that could be ‘carried on’ to the plane.
The concept comes from a story of some skaters that went to Barcelona, and were forced to focus their boards on the way back, to fit them into their luggage, as the Spanish airline refused to take them as carry on. I thought it would be nice if they could have folded their boards up in some surreal manner and given the staff the finger.
Anyway – thanks for not being dicks – and yes the lettering is laser cut from the grip.
