SOTW 12-15-08: 13th Street, Missouri

This week’s Shot of the Week is Austin Korte taken at the Springfield SkatePark in Springfield, MO on November 8th. What is it? Frontside ollie to disaster out of the miniramp into the adjacent tranny. The photographer is Brian Infante, who runs 13th Street Skateboarding, a site devoted primarily to skateboarding in Missouri. I’m in the Midwest right now, and indoors is a good place to be.

Check out the full frame Shot of the Week.

Springfield, Springfield! It’s a hell of a town! The schoolyard’s up and the shopping mall’s down! The stray dogs go to the animal pound!

  • When hell freezes over! no seriously, i’ll be there tomorrow. if it doesn’t snow.

  • That’s Austin and that’s our park! Skaters built it and skaters run it. We’re a not-for-profit association. Are there other parks who can say the same thing? Just would like to know. Check out our park at sk8springfield.com

Why are you talking about the midwest and snow. This park is in Missouri and it was 72 degrees yesterday. (course,it’s 32 today.) We don’t have much snow. So when are you going to stop talking about snow and come skate a truly great park in the middle of nowhere?

  • springfield, mo. that is a good park. big wood indoor, and gaint outside concrete park. when i passed through i think it was only $5 to sk8. stop there if you ever in the area. lots of good camping spots and swimming holes outside of town.

  • Aw Zed, that’s just mean. I wonder what Aunt Linda would think of TnA Fridays on SnA. 🙂

i dont like the midwest cause of the wind, its to windy, plus the winters are brutal

we’ve had 4 snowfalls already. The first 2 were in the 2″ variety, then we got 4″ and yesterday we got 10″. Yup, it sure is great. Driving anywhere takes 2 hours.

Wow, Kilwag, you actually summed up my feelings pretty well. I hear stories of 12 inches of snow back in Midland right now. It makes me jealous, know that i will have a green Christmas, but I know that if I was there right now I would be sick of that cold, wet white crap already.

I love the Midwest, as long as I am recalling fond memories or visiting and not actually living there during the winter.

God, skateboarders are so negative towards the Midwest. Is it the snow? Or the fact that you are in the middle of nowhere? I duuno, it is 70 degrees and suny where i am right now, but there is nowhere I’d rather be than back home in Michigan, with or without the snow. But you all don’t want to hear my sob story. Sigh….

you picked a great day to come. Actually all of December has sucked ass so far.

  • Will Jones
