BCSA Fundraiser Contest

BCSA Fundraiser Contest

Shortly before going off his medication, Colin Walsh sent in a couple pics and a short write up about a fundraiser/contest for the Benton County Skate Alliance (B.C.S.A.). The skate shots are decent, Collin. Maybe you should channel your energy in that direction instead of harassing the people that you want to have posting the shots.

From the horse’s mouth:

These are pictures from the BCSA skate contest that happened o the 4th of October. in Corvallis pictured is Joey, Marlin and I’m not sure who else.

On Saturday October 4th the Benton County Skate Alliance (B.C.S.A.) threw a skateboard contest at the Corvallis skate park. The event started at noon and continued until around 5 p.m.

Around 30-40 skaters showed up and about 2dozen by standers hung around to watch the action. The cause of this event is to raise money for a new, more challenging skate park for Corvallis.
“This is great, its not raining and we had a decent turnout, I mean we could have had more people here, but this is fine, I’m really stoked for everyone here… hopefully we can do this once a month.” Remarks B.C.S.A Corby Deglow on the event.

Throughout the day there were only a couple of showers that dampened the park, though that didn’t stop people from skating right through the water. There were many free products tossed out for radical maneuvers or falls performed. The B.C.S.A. also had a free BBQ for everyone to enjoy. Grill master and a park regular Marlin Mendoza made an appearance and soon took over the grill. He was stoked.

Peak Sports, Bacon Skateboards, Uprise smoke shop, Bones wheels, and MandM Skateboards were kind enough to help sponsor the event. They donated skateboards, shoes, gift certificates and stickers to be given away throughout the day.

The event went off with out any problems, no broken bones, dry concrete
and more then enough food made for another epic B.C.S.A. fund raiser.

So far this is the second fundraiser that the B.C.S.A. have put on. Their first fundraiser was an art sale and music show last spring, which brought in nearly three thousand dollars towards the new skate park. The B.C.S.A. plans on having another fundraiser in the winter. This is a great event for local artists to showcase their artwork, raise money for an awesome cause, and get your name in the public eye.

For more information regarding upcoming B.C.S.A. events and Art show see their website at bcskateboardingalliance.org

That 5-0 on the extension is a rad shot! Colin have been slightly annoying (understatement) to get these up, but, dare I say, isn’t that what this site is all about?

Kind of reminds me of someone I know…

Nice job on the contest, Colin. It looks like you and others worked hard to get sponsors and host it. Those skating benefitted from the event and will benefit from the better park. So make ’em pay for their burgers even if it’s factored into their entry fee. Definitely make the spectators pay for that. You deserve and need the money. Also, $3K is a good haul for your other event. Your mother and I are proud of you, but we think it’s time you start acting like a big boy with those comments you make.

im not even part of the bcsa actually… im just a huge fan.. i think the reason why the bcsa could’nt charge entry or for food is because of some kind of pricey permits for that shit, and no one had a food handlers card.. the grill was taken over by marlin the local bridge troll skater canning man.( who is 40 somwthing and can do rad handplants) but yeah… i tihnk they did this for good times and not so much of $$ aspects…. im almost positive that there is going to be another art show/ music thing before the new year… hopefully they can get artists and bands from all over portand to support the cause.. last time there were for the most part local artists and bands, which were really succesful.. i need to stop talking. eyah go to the web site!!!

that extension was built by a bike friend and he sometimes brings it down. It is bolted to teh rail atop teh bank and is very secure while riding. we built an extension in teh 6ft bowl once, it lasted two days before the city removed it.

  7. I respect the BCSA and what they are trying to do, but sometimes C.I.A. is the answer….
