It was kind of nice weather for a few 15 minute stretches at a time, but it was mostly cold and windy. All the trash from the entire park seemed to blow into the deep end. There were some injuries from motocross hijinks at Red’s house the night before. Crowd turnout was small compared to previous years. The event seemed to run smoother and quicker than ever before. Usually the results aren’t announced until after 9pm, but this year we were out of ther shortly after 7:00. The rest of the days are supposed to follow the same tight schedule. Masters turnout was low as far as big names from the past. The Women’s field was missing a lot of the usual contenders as well. The snake run was part of the course as well, although it was hard to see the whole course unless you were in a key spot, like a judges chair! Overall a lower keyed event then past years, but saw some great skating.
