Jim Phillip sbook signing

Jim Phillips and NHS reconciled?

Oh the drama. Remember the brouhaha over Jim Phillips and the cease and desist from NHS over his continuing use of the screaming hand logo? Well it looks like they must have worked it out because Santa Cruz is having a book signing with Phillips at their ASR celebration of 35 years of the Santa Cruz brand. It looks like there will be quite a few “celebs” in attendance.

Looks like you need an ASR badge to get in. There’s some good names scheduled to appear. Click to enlarge.

Jim Phillips book signing at Santa Cruz 35th anniversary

JIM PHILLIPS & SANTA CRUZ SKATEBOARDS CELEBRATE 35 YEARS!

2008 marks the 35th Anniversary of Santa Cruz Skateboards! To celebrate the event, Santa Cruz is putting together a party on September 5th @ the ASR Tradeshow in San Diego to commemorate the anniversary with “The Skateboard Art of Jim Phillips / 35th Anniversary of Santa Cruz Skateboards” book signing Party.

The attendee list for this event reads like an all star cast of past and present Santa Cruz artists and Pro Team riders including original members from Phillips Art Studios like Jimbo Phillips Jr., Johnny “Mojo” Munnerlyn to name a few as well as OG Santa Cruz Pros Duane Peters, Rob Roskopp, Steve Olson, Salba, Jason Jessee, Jeff Kendall, Corey O’Brien, Bod Boyle, Tom Knox, Eric Dressen, Keith Meek and many more who have committed to be there for this event.

If you missed the “Built to Grind” book signing party that Independent threw down a few shows back, you won’t want to miss this one! Jim Phillips new book, “The Skateboard Art of Jim Phillips” will be available for purchase at the door.

Party kicks off at 5:30 pm upstairs in ASR Meeting Room #6a with music by DJ RSII, Free Beer (while it lasts!) provided by ASR, and 35 years of legendary artists and pro riders from Santa Cruz Skateboards signing autographs for the lucky people who come join the festivities.

This party is being brought to you in part by the following sponsors: ASR, Tech Deck, FUEL TV, SABRE Vision, Van’s Off The Wall, Zola Acai’ Juice, Skull Candy, Independent Truck Co., BELL Helmets, OJIII Wheels.

Santa Cruz Skateboards, located in Santa Cruz California, was established in 1973 by then owners, Richard Novak, Doug Haut and Jay Shuirman who founded NHS Inc. • heyy quick question did he make a deck that had europe written on it it was my first board and i wanted to buy another one since it broke years ago

  • SC was one of the best companies out there, hell, I even rode for ’em, but that Party was a sham. It was just a way for them to line people up and sell shit.
It was total bullshit. you had to stand in a line behind some red rope to get signatures and see everyone. Just too weird, this is fucking skateboarding…

Santa Cruz should have put out tons of food and beer for the shop owners and kids and fans (that were able to get in to ASR) that have been supporting them for the last 35 years! After all they helped keep the SC train rolling.

It could have been, but was far from it.
I still love you SC but next time (50 years) do it right.

    PW.

  • yeah sirj, he’s actually nearby…they might not let him go though.

  • skategeezer

  • can they get gator to be there? was he ever on santa cruz? i need to check my history books…probably not.

  • wow, they brought roskopp back from kookdom to the skate world again?
    thats great news.
