Friday T&A on S&A: International Longboarder
I’ve always found this cover image… appealing. I had assumed it was actually a surfing rag when I first saw it, but later found out it was the precursor to Concrete Wave. I tried to pay the four bucks to download a hi-res pdf but found the whole process convoluted and unsatisfying. (Update: It was a stray link that was supposed to be removed. free now!) You can see a larger version of the cover after the jump. What’s with the handstand shot? It’s just filler I found here while looking for a big version of the cover.
International Longboarder Magazine
Cover from the Fall 2000 issue.
What a babe.
Is that an LBL? Was LBL even around in 2001?
+1
She’s damn fine.
“It’s all about riding long (insert vulgar language here)”
In response to Cowboy from Hell’s VD: There was such a thing as skateboarding before Adam2.
Obviously. LBL uses the same floral pattern in his boards. It reminded me of his boards.
By the way, there was a such a company named LBL before Adam2.
I’m not one of those loaded fanboys who cream their pants every time Adam makes a movie..
I got this issue when I ordered something years ago. In fact I think it’s in a stack of papers and what not right within reach of me now. Weird.
Hey, FYI.. i shot that cover.. That’s Jenna Grosshans.. just months before she was picked to be on the MTV Surf Girls Show…. she was 16 at the time.. Mike Brooke asked me to shoot a girl for the cover, i said, how about a girl in a bikini soaking wet hanging 5 carrying her surfboard.. He said, yeah right, so i went out and shot one. Here Mom let her cut school for the shoot…and for those that don’t know who i am, i’m the “Saturday Starrs” The one all those cool video clips where coming from.. .. Sorry my Youtube channel where Skate and Annoy was getting them from got wiped out by Dick Clark but i’m starting it up again, now it’s SURFSTYLEY2
I also shot the cover of the Concrete Wave History of Skateboarding..i know you’ve seen that shot..
Scott, thanks for the update. It looks like you’ve re-uploaded some of the ones I featured on past Saturday Starrs, I’m going to go back and update the old posts. I think it’s time for another installment of Saturday Starrs!
I was the publishing partner for ILB. Almost all copies of that issue went to one longboard manufacturer in San Diego. Sadly the boys in the shipping area didn’t approve of a woman on the cover of our magazine, and put them in a dumpster. I’m a bit of a hoarder and still have a few complete sets of the magazines 3 year run – 12 issues, and 1 poster. Maybe even a couple t-shirts.
