Team Pain in Colorado Springs

Team Pain in Colorado Springs

More bits from Team Pain. The pool/bowl above is the first part finished of larger project (40,000 sf) in Colorado Springs. Draw your own conclusions about their skate terrain preferences. Also, getting back to the Florida skatepark that could not be named, drumroll please….. Lawnwood Skatepark is the final completed name of the ST Lucie County Skatepark built in Fort Pierce, Florida. And in an unsual move for that state, it’s FREE, just as ALL PUBLIC SKATEPARKS SHOULD BE.

    BRECK IN 99′

  • Rich! Thanks for the tip on the other new Colorado parks.

“Breckenridge was built almost ten years ago” How old is the Butt-pencil err I mean “Aspen” park?

  • some guy at work

Breckenridge was built almost ten years ago. I’m guessing that Team Pain has learned a few things since then. I’ve skated some of James’s more recent creations, and the finishes are great.

  • hopefully this one will have a smoother finish than the one they did in Brekkenridge.

Its a nice snake run which has patches of rough spots here and there. Also the tranny changes a little on some of the walls, which makes for an interesting and challenging ride.

Still, I should try and get out to the one depicted above sometime.

I’m diggin’ the loveseat in the deep end. I’d like to see one of those here in p-town! Yet another obstacle I can suck at skating!

  • Impossible transitions… ya mean two foot transition and six feet of vert? We had one of those, the old “Bar X motel”. I must have been desperate for a pool.. wait a minute… that building is still standing and the hotel has been closed for…. kev out!

Yeah, I know what you mean. They have a different type of feel for sure. I much prefer the rounded type. The big flat pour on the bottom of a bowl kind of makes it feel more… static? If you are going to try and approximate a pool type bowl, why not do it as close as possible (minus impossible transitions please) The big flat bottom ruins the illusion. Unless of course, you want a square pool… I don’t know what the two styles are called though.

  • YES! This is within weekend striking distance from my house! From the pic this looks like a smooth bowl. Round! 🙂 On many of our newer CO parks the bottom of the bowl is kind of like a separate pour. FLAT! 🙁 In my opinion that messes up the whole feel of the bowl. Is there terminology for the different types of pours… flat bottom bowl vs. the smooth pool style pour where there is really no flat area?

  • That looks like one fun bowl. Colorado is the spot for skatepark builders this summer. Team Pain, Airspeed and Dreamland, all have projects in the works somewhere in Colorado.

  • that looks killer…we need some “PAIN” up here in portland
