Modern bowls in Detroit

Tito from Team Pain sent some pics of a wooden bowl they are building for Modern Skate & Surf in Detroit. OK, looking at the Modern web site, it looks like the closest location they have to Detroit is in a suburb called Royal Oak, so I’m guessing that’s where this is going, even though they currently have a skatepark in Grand Rapids.

Horizontal pics can be enlarged.

very cool… i heard this was happening, but didn’t know how soon– last winter was a serious bummer in detroit–no bowls to skate, with novi being torn down. GR is a bit too far for anything more than an x-mas trip…

whoever tito is, i look forward to carving his bowls. those trannies look mighty fine.

I’m pretty sure he just got married to a real live woman.

  • the dude

CAN TITO EVEN SKATE OR DOES HE TRY TO HAVE HIS BOARD TAP OUT..? P.S. TITO IS A FAG

  • This is going to be one great winter in Detroit

  • Thanks for posting those- I had heard about the bowl going in but hadn’t seen any construction shots yet.

Hopefully you don’t mind but i poached a couple of the picts and put them onto my site.

The new park is going in at royal oak- just outside of Detroit. That is about 2.5 hours from us here in Grand Rapids. It will be nice to have another indoor park for the upcoming winter that is (relatively) close by.

    thanks for the clarification

  • “actually, I think Red and Geff had part in that park, at least one section of it. “

They were part of the crew at that job.

James Hedrick Designed and built the park.

actually, I think Red and Geff had part in that park, at least one section of it. there was an article in an old thrasher about it when it was being built, or at least the deep bowl. but i agree, after a summer in CO, Aspen was a favorite park to ride there.

  • I like the Team Pain stuff. I think the park in Aspen CO was a Pain job. I love that park. Simple, smooth and brown! Go Pain!
