SAnta Cruz re-issues

Attack of the reissues

Collectors are probably bummed, but guys who just want to ride their favorite old boards again will be stoked, as long those old boards are some of these Santa Cruz re-issues slated to ship in August. These images are from SoCal Skateshop. Get in line now, these will likely sell out fast, and then we can all comment on the ridiculous prices the reissues fetch on eBay. Olson is always mentioning how he didn’t get paid by Santa Cruz in interviews. They must have reached an agreement. Also, I think this pushes Duane Peters over the top as the guy with the most simultaneous decks out on different companies, a record that might have been previously held by Hosoi.

I ride mine its hard to ride but you can respect all the shit he did on a no-nose board.

The duane peters and steve olsen boards are on sale for 47$ on SCSKATE.com and they are selling as completes also… are they re printing re issues?

  • houseofneil

Designed to be ridden? I don’t think so. The Olson and DP are supposed to be 100% accurate to the originals. They even used an old deck to trace and get the mold right. So there will be no concave, snub nose, wheel wells. They are very limited, so ride one today and be pissed when they are selling on eBay for $300 in a couple of months.

The reissues are reissues! Don’t get hung up on wall hangar & accuracy gig! If ya don’t have the OG, then sell your home & buy one! These new reissues designed to be ridden. Therefore they must be functional. The old DP is definitely not up today’s style. It’s a classic, although snub nose & purely for pool riding. The OG Olson looks similar to reissue and had no concave!

Anyways .. I ordered both & look forward to finding a set of wheels & trucks to replicate the OG versions. Definitely Indy or Aces. Aces look more like Stage 1 & 2 Indys. Wheels … Black reissue Gyros for the Olson and no idea on the DP. They gotta be magenta! Anyways .. thanks for hooking us up & ensure NHS sends payments to OLsOn. ScO

I’m totally stoked on these. I don’t really care about the collector-status of high prices the originals fetch; I just want to be able to look over at my collection and enjoy the memories of skateboarding back in the 80s. I’m very happy that these will be available at reasonable prices again – at least for a while.

I saw somebody selling the Kendall (using the above mock-up image) on eBay the other day. It went for Buy It Now at $150. Then I saw another Kendall with the same image, then the Roskopp, and figured something was up.

  • houseofneil

remember though, those pics aren’t the real thing. Just mock-ups.

  • yep keep em the old shapes concave..
the Kendall looks fun the olson too..!
    New old Decks.?.
    Bark, woof
    Grrrr.

i hate the way SC reissues have kicknoses, even though you can put alot of weight on them for a long period of time and flatten them. but why the hell does the DP have a punk point????? i know he rides em now and he got to “redesign” this board a little bit but, whats wrong with keeping it the way it was? it was so much cooler.

    From a rep at SC:

    happy Thursday.

maybe you’ve seen these on all those really awesome skate message boards where industry gossip spreads like wildfire and anonymous people keep it real bitter.

    maybe not.

i am now taking prebooks on these and you don’t want to miss them.

let’s get down to the nitty gritty:

    11111312 SANTA CRUZ ROSKOPP FACE 9.5″ x 31″
    11111310 SANTA CRUZ KENDALL PUMPKIN 10″ x 30″
    11111315 SANTA CRUZ MEEK SLASHER 10 x 30″
    11111314 SANTA CRUZ SALBA WITCH DOCTOR 10″ x 31″
    11111311 SANTA CRUZ O’BRIEN REAPER 9.8″ x 30″
    11111308 SANTA CRUZ PETERS ltd 10.5″ x 29.5″
    11111313 SANTA CRUZ OLSON ltd 10.2″ x 31″

8/1 – O’Brien Natural, Kendall Pumpkin, Roskopp Face

8/15 – Salba Witch Doctor, Slasher Woodgrain

8/15 – Steve Olson, Duane Peters (limited)

that’s it. these are moving quicker than california wildfires.

    have a good weekend,

    and:

Yes, the Duane Peters and Steve Olson decks are gonna have wheel wells and routed rails. As for the other re-issues, Salba’s deck is one he designed personally for what he likes to ride these days. The others are gonna be like the other re-issues we’ve released recently with the bigger kick noses. Hope this helps you out.

  • I know they are a little pricey, out of touch Santa Cruz again.

  • the dp and olson are limited to 1000 and the others are not limited, so i am sure theyll be available for awhile. in this econo mic slowdown, 65 for the common ones and 75 for the dp and olson seems a little much. im riding minilogos right now.

  • I’m getting that Olsen, that’s for sure! Now all we need are some reissues of stage 1 indy’s, and Blackheart wheels: home-made copers, here we come!

  • houseofneil

nobody knows yet, as the pics above are just mock-ups. However, the recent Salba Bevel reissue was very accurate, so maybe.

  • the Salba and blue Roskopp are pretty sweet. Jim Phillips rules.

  • I just hope they are paying Jim Phillips his dues at long last. The company is a sinking boat without the heritage Jim gave them.

They better get the wood right this time. Last ones have been like skating a slice of wet bread..

  • Dave Sco

I already own the original OLson & Duane Peters. The value will not go down because reissues are obviously reissues. I’m happy SC reissued these gems so I can ride them. I’d never set a toe on my OG DP deck. Cheers to NHS & hope Olson gets his reward. Olson Rules!

  • enemy combatant

    Well that’s good then.

  • A

    Wheel wells, Sonny.

  • enemy combatant

Will these boards have the original concaves and kicks etc… or are they pressed from recent molds and just have facsimile paintjobs?

  • houseofneil

I’m down with all of these apart from the slasher and the roskopp. These have been reissued before, (the slasher numerous times) so why do them again? The A&R types at SC need to do some more research. A Kendall Jagermeister would sell by the boatload. Or a Spidey.

These better be screened, and the ones in woodstain better be real woodstain, and not some fake woodstain heat transferred on there.
