celebrity screwups

I think Andy would approve

I know these are easy targets, but sometimes there is something to be said for executing the idea, no matter how simple it is. I like these celebrity fuckup models from Think Skateboards. On the left is the Britney Spears series, and the right is the somewhat older Jailbait series.

  1. how about an OJ model for slashes and carves?

  2. or a Michael Jackson one in mini size for the youngsters? or an Oprah one with a whale shape? or…

I thought Think went out of business, or are these all old?

  4. Sub-brands never go out of business, they just lie dormant until someone thinks they can make money again.

Yeah, I would cite SMA as additional proof Kilwag is right.

  6. Not to mention Stereo, Creature, Zorlac, Shut… keep ’em coming.

“Since 19__” (except for when we weren’t making them anymore)

  7. And yes,I’m aware of our masthead that says “Since 1985” but the reality is, I never stopped compiling materials for future issues of Skate and Annoy. Even in the late 90’s my wife (then girlfriend) was in the darkroom at her job making prints from my old negatives for the “next issue.”

    We’ve been online since 1996!

  8. Woa! one of my posts has hit the big time! Skate and annoy, you guys rock!

except Think never went out of business or went dormant (although some people think they should have), they’ve just been putting out different colorways of the same tired logo for the past 8 years.

  10. Not just one, but two Sir Jorge. We rock twice as hard as you thought.

Come on people, what are some more resurrected brands?

Ha, I knew I had a good reason to be confused when I saw Stereo and Creature in Cal’s a while ago. Are Stereo and Think still on Deluxe? Did Plan B come back independently or did someone else just pick them up? It’s a weird skateboarding world outside of the stuff I get in Portland…

  12. Vision Street Wear makes department store razor scooters and those skateboards displayed in open face boxes next to one-hit helmets and bicycle inner tubes. I think that counts as a resurrected brand, even though it’s no real surprise that they would ultimately succumb to that.
