Photon Light Boards

Photon Torpedos

There’s a DIY solution for LED skateboards, but with these types of projects, it’s usually faster to pay someone else to do it for you. Enter Photon Light Boards. You may need to get out your Tron suit for these.

Photon Light Boards

Photon Light Boards are hand made modified boards that offer bling for trippy skate photos and/or lighting to help you ride at night. There’s some footage in the videos below that show guys riding down the street and in skateparks in dark and near dark conditions.

Photon Light Boards

You gotta look like a hard ass when pimping your LED skateboards so nobody will make fun of you.

Photon Light Boards

The headlight throwing models look like the lights are embedded in the edge of the board, which would seem to discourage any street skating or anything risky that isn’t for a photo op. Looks like they were trying to shoot a promo for Fuel TV. anyone know if it made it on the air?

OK, these boards obviously aren’t meant to replace your day to day workhorse. These are for fun man, can you deal with that? For one thing the cost is pretty high, $120 for the deck, although they also sell them for $100 on eBay. The switch and battery unit appears to be housed under a heavy duty metal plate, and even though it doesn’t look very thick, I didn’t see any board slides in the videos. Some boards have lights that project both forward and backward. It looks like riding around on a double light saber. It’s totally mesmerizing when the board rotates. Actually, I don’t know if mesmerizing or distracting is the word I want to use, but look for it in the vids.

The boards that have a ring around the inside give the appearance of a very fragile glass like setup when seen lit up. It’s an illusion for sure, but the strength of the board has got to suffer some.

Chewbacca! Check out how the lightning bolt pattern is projected on the ground, which begs the obvious question; Why no Batman signal?

these things look pretty cool, but i wouldnt ever take it to my favorite 8 stairs for a session…i’d fuckin kill these things:(.

make a stronger board, and more people will take to these i guarantee you.

  • My aunt from San Diego saw these on the local morning show and got me one for Christmas. I’ve only sidewalk surfed it from work to home, but that was pretty fun. Now I want to take it to Battleground for a night session!
