Skate and Annoy: Daily

Original Skateboards vid

Definitely not punk rock

I reviewed Original skateboards deck and trucks a while back. They have a video that went up on YouTube a couple of days ago. Nothing in the way of radical skateboarding but a relaxed soulful feel. Makes me want to go ride some hills. The footage is from the coast of Maine.

I thought it had a surf movie feel to it.

Columbia House Record Club is where I scored the Sex Pistols and uhm… Adam and the Ants.

  • Yes, Rick Wakeman, Alan Parsons Project, Ted Nugent… Columbia House Record Club.

  • Booby Trap

Theory: “oregoner” is from Nebraska et al.

  • One of my sayings in college was that “you are only as cool as the very back of your record collection”. For me that was Gordon Lightfoot, Joni, The Doors, and the DiFranco Family.

  • ZZ Top is pretty sweet. They are one of my favorite jukebox picks. I hid the Velvet Underground because everyone I know thinks Nico sucks, and everyone I know has also read “Please Kill Me,” so everyone knows a naked Jim Morrison beat up Nico on a roof while they were high. Lou Reed is pretty killer, though.

Aretha Franklin and Patsy Cline are my favorites. I don’t hide these things anymore. They are classic. I willingly belt them out at karaoke after… a couple cold ones. Too bad you missed my Safety Dance performance last week at the Ambassador!

    Abba???

Also in my collection: Abba, Bay City Rollers, ZZ Top, soundtrack to Saturday Night Fever, KC and the Sunshinne Band… Oops. Did I say that out loud?

I can’t beleive you thought you had to hide the VU. Aretha is not cheesy either. Urethra Franklin.

  • This is kind of like when I moved into the punk house a few years back and kept all my cheesy records in my closet, out of sight, and only listened to them when no one was home. I really like my Aretha Franklin and Velvet Underground albums, and Ministry, Frank Zappa, Ween for good measure. Pegged pants and greasy hair studded jackets cocaine punk rockers don’t gotta know.

Thank god I grew out of hiding.

Alright you guys. Part of me agrees with Neil and Scott. Live and let live, you know? Or maybe that should be Skate and let skate… The other part of me can’t stop giggling. Enemy Combatant, you’re on a roll. Make sure you save this stuff for when you apply for a job at The Onion.

The Aging Longboarder: using your dog’s natural abilities in order to avoid pushing related stress injuries.

  • Enjoy the mind raping the pop skateboard industry has bestowed upon you boys, your allegiance to the current norm will mean nothing to the skateboard industry five, ten or 15 years from now.

And if you think it will, try going to the park decked out in your jenco brand 40 inch leg skirt jeans that were the shit in the 90s.

The next time you turn around you will be 35, sitting in an office, and all the shit you talked about guys who weren’t doing the sickest stairsets will be eating away at you from the back of your mind… because you wont be able to do them anymore.

And if, by some miracle, you are still pulling all the stuff you are landing now, I would hope that all of those years of doing something you love might have positively impacted your world outlook.

If thats the case, I would encourage you to start a blog and share your world view. For the good of skateboarding.

CW should feature an article on people who commute to work on their boards!!!

  • skategeezer

Ironically, the more the “core” continues to bash longboarding, slalom, concrete wave or anything else that doesn’t fit their agenda, the more popular they
    become.

CW magazine is about riding all types of skateboards. If you can deal with that, great. If you can’t, that’s your problem. Not ours.

If you don’t want to let your friends see you read something then you’re a child.

I’m down with ALL forms of skateboarding. We’re supposed to be open minded and creative. Instead a lot of skaters are the opposite of that. Small minded, childish, and afraid of anything that doesn’t fit in to their idea of “cool”. Grow the fuck up. There’s more to life than trucker hats and cheap beer, and there’s more to skating than riding one type of terrain.

    You forgot yo mama!

  • houseofneil

there’s so many intolerant, small-minded, fucking idiots in the skateboard community. It’s all skateboarding. Try it all. Enjoy it all. What’s the problem?

    Krapnek? Whatever.

  • gross… longboarding is ghey at any speed. art sucks too … and surfing… did I cover everything?

  • Dick Cancer

short dick… that’s not true. The thrill of going 37mph, my fastest because I haven’t done much downhilling was AWESOME, I have some friends doing 60 mph down a hill out in Gaston. One buttboarder claims 70 mph on the same hill. They are taking readings from a gps, it’s more accurate than just Saying “it was fast”. I like going fast but for the most on longboards, I do aggree puss out and just want something to carry or have in the corner of there appartment that looks cool. Check out “the kid” from Eastside longbaords here in Portland. He kills hills and more. I have a lot of respect for guys standing up doing 60 down a hill on any kind of four wheeled object. AS for Original trucks and there likes, they can go pound sand. I won’t say junk but I do call it kooky. If you want to turn Loosen you trucks.
As for short dick, I’ve recently began pissing behind myself, instead of the pull it out and let it flow in front of me, I take it out and like a belt, pull it to the side and literally piss directly behind myself. It’s always a good laugh when you are facing trees and people see a stream shooting back at them…

  • Westerberg

    Definitely not L.A.

  • long board, short dick.

  • Dick Cancer

It has a GAY feeling to it. It fits right in there with those stupid “Daddies” board shop ads… I hate those phucking ads of dude and his daughter on a board together in some parking lot. Phuck whatever!

  • enemy combatant

You actually went to see Brokeback Mountain?

  • I have nothing against longboarders or longboarding but it would be funny as shit to put that to the theme of Brokeback Mountain.

  • I probably shouldn’t upload Skateboard Sliders volumes 1-3 then.

  • corncobcock

total shit…you fellas get a hold of some garbage. speaking of that…F nike. ken park

They’re turning on you Mark, Quick, to the escape hatch!

  • houseofneil
