eBay Watch for August and September 2007

eBay Watch for August and September 2007

As you can see, this is a double-monther. I was on vacation visiting my family in England in September, so I got totally behind on my August report. Consequently I decided to combine the best of August and September so you at least get to see the August stuff.

I’m also introducing a new feature this month: it’s the “Board of the Month”, where I pick my favorite board from the months selection. Look for the bold type.

Check out: eBay Watch: August/September 2007

  • Yeah – Machester is all trendy now!!!!:)

  • houseofneil

Wallasey on the Wirral–across the mersey from Liverpool. I also spent a day in Manchester. God, that place has changed in 20 years. All of my favorite clubs were gone.

  • Neil,

Whereabouts in the UK did you go on holiday? I live in Guildford, but came from Southsea, checkout my WWW

    Tony T

  • That Dressen is worth $600?? I’ve got that exact one but the graphic is more a green/blue on natural wood… In the shrink wrap. Who wants it?

  • Same with the Lucero.

    Hail Skatan.

  • Weird. I would have figured that broken Blender after the Falling Guy and before the Snake and Lattice based on the shape.
The Bevel was from Mr. Madrid from what I gather.

  • thee sunnyvaler

Neil, the broken Blender deck you featured was indeed a production one. I know Blender and he said only one run of 100 were made. He has one mint. This deck was made between the “snake and lattice” and “rocking dog” boards.

Thanks for the info Livmo. Brilliant.

Wasn’t Doug Haut the H in NHS? So it would make sense that NHS bought all of his inventory I guess.

  • Part2. (I guess you must have a max text limit on posts???)

The cool thing about that Lama-Flex auction was that the board was a Kevin Reed model, and the helmet belonged to Kevin Reed (I think the seller mentioned something about buying it at the San Jose Fleamarket).

    Here’s a link to Ted Terrebone’s site with a pic of Kevin Reed at Winchester;

  • Good stuff Neil. My “Board of the Month” would have been the Lama-Flex.

Lama-Flex was a series of ply boards made by Haut Skateboards, a Nor Cal company out of Santa Cruz, CA. Doug Haut made surfboards and produced skateboards when the 70’s craze hit. I believe “Lama-Flex” was the equivalent to NHS’s “5-Ply” series when manufacturer’s went from solid oak to laminated boards.
Haut made a few pig boards in the late 70’s and had local pro riders like Kevin Reed, Peter “Kiwi” Gifford, and Scott Parsons.
Haut got out of the skateboard business in the late 70’s, and the story goes that NHS bought up all their inventory pennies on the dollar. Their old 8″ rocker boards were painted black and re-screened to become the SC Jammer. I believe NHS made a killing on these.

  • Hanx Neil! The talking Suicidal deck killed me.
Randy, BOTM for the Johnson dildo street? No offense, but to me Zorlac’s glory day was right before the Fire Demon came out. There were 4 truly classic decks: Double Cut, Gibson, Johnson (voodoo doll), and Big Boys.

Also, loved the look of those Dogtown Suicidals but the ones that made it to our local shop were really sub-par wood.

  • cap'n crabby

    he rips
    he skates
    he never hesitates
he’s a wizard on the wheels
a modern gladiator aint got no fears
    BEWARE HE’S POSSESSED TO SKATE!

    fuck yeah.

  • A

The only thing that “screams” in that Staab graphic it the word “Cheesey”

That Lester really pops though, especially the enlarged pic, check out the botched grip tape in an otherwise pristine board.

My “Board of the month” would have been that Zorlac Craig Johnson.

LamaFlex? What an unfortunate name. De-LamaFlex?

    Good stuff Neil.
