Sustainable skateboarding company seeks disposable web labor slave

Eco Skateboards has an project placed on iFreelance.com titled Hip looking website for an environmentally friendly skateboarding company:

I need a cool looking flash website design done for an environmentally friendly skateboard company. To give you a little background on our company, we are a skateboard producer located in Canada called Eco Skateboards. The philosophy behind the company is really organic and natural, we love bright colours and happy looking designs! We are looking for something with our logo integrated into it.

What is their budget for a hip website developed in Flash no less? Between $250 and $499 with two weeks to deliver. I don’t know if the skateboards are made in China, but at that price the web site will have to be made in India.

WTF, last weekend there was a $20,000 pro-purse for a game of skate and this weekend there is a $35,000 pro-purse for a fukn mini-ramp contest.

Daniel, Yes everyone that starts a skateboard company spends a lot of money. It’s just very ironic that you champion ecological responsibility at the expense of social responsibility. $500 is well below the going rate for an entire web site, especially one made in Flash. That doesn’t mean you won’t be able to find someone to do it for that cheap. Your argument is the same that a lot of companies use for getting their boards made in China… It’s cheaper. If you are going to take the high road you should be consistent or it just makes you seem hypocritical.

In any case, we applaud you for trying to be environmentally friendly, and look forward to seeing your product and your web site. Keep us posted when your site goes live.

apparently, skateboarding is all about the game of SKATE, as demonstrated by the $20,000 pro purse given away in san diego this weekend. What did 1st place at Tri-fecta get again?oh yeah, gas money to saturday’s event and a case of beer too drink away the aches and pains.

  • dude. skateboarding is all about the graphics!

i appreciate that there is and are companies out there that are concerned more with the future sustainability of the products we ride than trying to find and cash in on the next one-trick wonder professional skater

  • Hello all.

My name is Daniel and I am the founder of Eco Skateboards. By environmentally friendly we mean that our boards are made out of a hemp/wood/carbon/ compound that is much more sustainable than the wood used in most of todays skateboards.

Yes, we are looking for a site done for a low price. We are a startup. I funded the entire project myself working for a year at a not so high paying job. We have no corporate backing of any kind. $500 is alot to me, and most other skateboarders. I’m not looking for a slave, I’m not looking for an extravagant website, just something simple. Two weeks to deliver is not mandatory, and was put there in error by myself.

Our skateboards are not made in China. They are made in Ontario, Canada. The person I ended up contracting the website out to is from Colorado, USA.

My post on iFreelance may seem kind of corporate, but that is not what we are about at all. Take a look at our mission statement that I developed fo our webpage.

“First of all, thank you. Thank you for checking us out, even if it is just to take a look and see what this thing is all about. All in all, I

  • What is a cute graphic of a bulldozer approaching trees promoting?

And what is an environmentally friendly skateboard company? Do they replant forests after cutting down the wood for their decks?
