Benji Galloway

Oregon Trifecta Battle Ground Tobin’s Results.

Aw hell. After the Battle Ground pro event got rained out I went home, hung out with my wife, went to our block party (that I had a hall pass out of until the Battle Ground rain), gave my two year old a bath and then sat down and had a leisurely dinner with my wife while we watched a recorded episode of Entourage. I called Rich at EPM who was hanging out at Glenhaven to see if he was going, and got a few updates from Billy Runaway at Addict. While I was being family man, Tobin’s garage was raging. I had pretty much written it off as a major hassle, but I decided to call one last time. I got a text message as I was walking out the door that said the “Super Finals” had just started. Someone needs to explain to Dave Duncan what the word “finals” means, and that there is such a thing as a semifinals. I thought I’d give it a go anyway. Who knows, maybe they were also going to have Extreme™ Super Finals… I drove about 110 blocks in 12 minutes, and got there for the last three minutes and took this one lame photo through a window and over someone else’s shoulders. Good thing too, cause Benji Galloway ended up winning it. Second went to Josh “Screech” Sandoval and amazingly, third went to 12 year old Morgan Burgess from Lebanon Ohio!

You say a 12 year old beat Rune Glifberg? Yes, he beat Rune Glifberg, and a host of other people as well. Actually, this kid Morgan is really good. He’s young and little, and Tobin’s bowl is the perfect scale for someone his size to really shine if they have the skills, and he does. So way to go Alien Workshop for supporting this kid. It was pretty clear something amazing was going down. There was the massive good will vibe at the end. Where else but Oregon could you have a world-ranked skateboard contest that gets rained out and ends up finishing in some guy’s back yard bowl. Tobin was a little bit in shock, his wife was ready for everyone to go home , but still being pleasant. Someone said it was the Curse of Oregon that rained out Battle Ground. How can you hold an event called the Oregon Trifecta in Washington without it getting rained out? You can’t! HAt’s off to Portland. What a scene, and also to Don Bostick from World Cup Skateboarding for having the huevos to let it all go down and still be sanctioned. Choppy’s got one that will be talked about for a long time.

  • ECTT rules. Ask Tobin what that means.

  • Hi,
I love the fact that Batlle Ground has made a name for itself in the Skate World. I own a Skate, Surf shop in Santa Cruz and San Diego, California and I am looking for some skate shops that would carry our Stinger decks.
If you know of anyone who would be interested in I would be happy to follow up with them.
I do own some rentals in rentals in Battle Ground and only hope for great things within the community.
    Thanks,
    Phil

  • fuck yea screech

  • nice, glad to see that the local pros took care of it. Screetch was pretty much destroying the clover bowl at Battle Ground before the contest started. The guy can skate a pool.
