eBay Watch for May 2007

eBay Watch for May 2007

I’m keeping the same deal in May as I did in April. No Jessees, Grossos, McGills or Hawks. We’re all sick of looking at them, right? Instead there will be more unusual stuff. Maybe not as high dollar, but a lot less dull. This month also saw the Ray Underhill charity auction. Lots of pros and industry bigwigs auctioned off items of interest to raise money for Ray’s medical bills. Now, while this a worthwhile cause and I applaud all of the people who bid high on the auctions, these were often one of a kind items, or more common items that were signed, whose prices were far higher than normal because of the cause. So I won’t be featuring a ton from the Underhill auctions, just a few random items that grabbed my attention.

This month, the column is fueled by nothing. I’m late getting this out because with the weather actually being good I’m out there skating more instead of typing this. So I’m trying to keep this quick and to the point. Also, I want to mention the Art of Skateboarding site. I use it for some of my research, and although it’s not 100% reliable (who is?), it is an invaluable resource. You should check it out.

  • regarding the kendall jagermeister boards and the issue about why it was not reissued. i heard from an inside source that there were some legality issues raised by yager or the company that owns yager back in the day over that graphic. seems some people lost some sleep over it, therefore doubt youll ever see that one reissued.

yup, I’ve heard that from 2 people, so let’s make that official. The Sal Barbier is an H-Stret, not a Plan B.

Also, the Hosoi street Flag never actually sold. The guy that bid $1,500 was a zero feedback bidder and backed out, so it went back on in June with a much lower Buy It Now.

  • I think the Sal Barbier was from H-Street early 90s

  • do you know the wrestlers that died in 2007?

  • Was anyone else going nuts over the Brite Lites? Like new! I had the orange one for a brief time and still wish I kept it.
Still have my Alva and SC Stinger though.
    Great site. Thanks!!

  • The Hosoi was a bunk buy. It got relisted with a min. 100 but never got hit for that much.

    Hail Satan

  • Neil –
Just a guess, but the “Chairman of the Board” guy
looks like Clay Blehm of DC shoes to me.

  • neil,

the “gonz n’ roses” is a/k/a “sweatpants” only on the krooked reissue. on the krooked reissue the clothes were changed from a suit to an adidas warm-up outfit.

  • So I heard this morning that Sandy (the VP guy featured on the deck) has the boards in his office. Classic.

  • yeah, it’s Phil. good catch.

  • That has to be Phil Knight Haw haw! Brilliant.

  • man, those Consolidated decks are funny. I work for Nike and I think those 3 dudes on the decks are our CEO Mark Parker, Nike SB VP Sandy Bodecker and the 3rd one I’m not sure…maybe Charlie Denson. Kinda funny I think.

  • Neil,

I dunno who you are man, but thank you for keeping the past available for the future. I love eBay watch! I’m too cheap to collect these vintage tokens of time nearly forgotten. But I can afford the memories of decks owned and lust.
