Bellingham Washington in Progress

Bellingham Face Lift

Our senior Mexico City transplant correspondent (Senior, and Señor) John Aguilar sent in these pics of Dreamland construction going on in Bellingham Washington. This is phase 2 of an existing skate park built by Purkiss Rose It’s a Grindline design that apparently dates back to March of 2006. The rendering shows what appears to be a relatively shallow beginners area. It’s hard to tell from the photos but it appears that they might be digging something deeper than that. Who knows, maybe the plans have changed. It has been over a year. More after the jump

The pictures below are from the City of Bellingham, Washington web site page devoted to the new addition to the skatepark. They apparently have 200k worth of funding. Curiously, the status is listed as “Re-bidding 2007.”

Here’s an alternate view of the plan from a Grindline letter to the City of Bellingham, which you can download from here.

The Bellingham that could have been…

Just to add fuel to the fire, here’s some renderings of The Bellingham skatepark hidden on the Grindline site. The current Purkiss Rose design is what beat this out. Go figure. I don’t have to tell you which one would have been more fun.

I think a lot of locals would appreciate a street section. A real street section. Grindlines hidden plans has some decent planter boxes and that full pipe looks gnar.

Phase II is okay… The bowl is massive, not use to riding vert…

  • why didnt you build it the outher way assholes

  • ARE there going to be any big haff pipes going to be biult there.please do that.

The new park is a BUMMER! The shorter section is pretty much exactly like the crappy first park. The bowl sections is fun but too small. They should have built a few connected bowls and not more FLAT!!!! Who chose the Dreamland design anyway?!!?! The Grindline design looks soooo fun!

However, I see some sculpted dirt next to the small section, is this going to be another park section?

  • wow thats a sad story
that park is soo janky the bottoms of the ramps are
    sooo bad
