Man what a sensitive group. All I did was poke fun at the fact that these toy miniature skateboards were somewhat absurdly priced. I’m sure it’s expensive to have tiny trucks cast in small quantities, and if that’s your thing than go for it. However, don’t come over here and expect me to publish comments like “suck a bag of…” or “F all you haters!” I was reading an article by one of the lead developers of WordPress titled 6 steps to kill your community. What’s step number one? Don’t Moderate:
Don’t Moderate. Allow anybody to post anything regardless of whether it contributes to the conversation or not. Stupidity, libel, hate, curse words are all okay because in the comments you have plausible deniability. Make sure people know that whatever they post will live forever, and anything goes. The few smart people you did have in your comments will enjoy responding to these folks. Advertisers love being next to a good fight, too.
So yeah, I’m over trying to get people to play nice. A difference of opinion is fine, even welcome, as long as you aren’t just out to insult anyone/everyone. I’m not going to waste time trying to appeal to your adult sensibilities, or massage you into being a mostly productive member of our audience, I’m just going to delete it.
That being said, check out this fingerboarding video that is in fact, pretty cool. I first saw the turntable approach to fingerboarding (Oh gwad, am I actually typing this?) back around the new millennium in a video called Fingers of Fury. The “park” was homemade and cardboard, but the concept was fun. The obstacles come to you and your fingers stay in place, like running on a treadmill. Well, the miniature skatepark world has evolved with the rest of skateboarding. It’s uncool to have a janky homemade fingerboard park, or one that looks like it’s made from stock toys (except in this case) . Nobody wants to get their footy shot at soemthing that looks like a skatepark, let alone a toy skatepark. Thanks to the couple of fingerboarding enthusiasts who actually responded thoughtfully. You guys deserve your own magazine.

I was almost pro, but I blew out my knuckle in a motorcycle accident. I was never able to fully recover my flip tricks and now big drops make my finger ache so bad……. 🙂

How ’bout that 80s fingerboard pro who wound up spending the rest of his life in a chinese finger prison after he killed that wedding ring model finger? Senseless! I saw the documentary and they think he did it because he couldn’t make the change from mixing bowl fingerboard skating to turntable fingerboard skating.
I remember him…Mark “Digit” Digikowski. Didn’t he invent the 360 Palm Air? He was awesome in that Jergens vid.
Yeah, that was his name, Digikowski. That reminds me, I sent Jergens a sponsor-me tape back in like ’89. Corporate jerks never even responded. Sure, I’m just a thumb but I got feelins too. Now I’m just a scumliner with a receding nail line living on my yesterdays. Maybe my little finger will do better than I did. Big hopes for that kid!
I actually had a signature Palmolive soap line back in the early 90’s. “Softens your hands while you do the flip ticks.” I wasted all my fingerboard money on cheap manicures. My manicure obsession eventually resulted in a bacterial infection of my cuticles from an unwashed nail file in a sleazy strip mall nail salon. Sometimes, I wax nostalgic in the fingerboard aisle at the toy store spraying to kids about my glory days. I have restraining orders at Toy’s R Us stores in 3 counties.
Man I hope you never run into one of those dudes next to a sink or something. You’ll probably get an earlobe-flicking you won’t soon forget.
Can you picture them get frustrated doing take after take to get the footage of a trick? Repetetive stress injuries? I wonder how often they focus their boards.
Would love to have read that stuff. What’s funnier than a kid getting all irked about fingerboarding being disrespected? There is something hilarious about angry foul mouthed 12 year olds. If you’ve ever played Halo online you know what I mean.
Besides the aforementioned earlobe flicking I’m sure you also may the risk of a Kids in the Hall style squishing of the head.

What’s lurking? Resting my hands on the sink? Washing them? I picture myself all wasted at Ground Control one night, rushing to the restroom sink to vomit, then looking up to see some fanboy with a horrified look on his face as a tiny Element logo and one little truck emerges, afloat in a sink full of puke.
I love watching fingerboarders focus their boards when they can’t land a trick. Also the bail sections of the fingerboard vids are always the best. Tiny railing to to the fake groin! Epic!
