The Briefs rule. Technically this is a re-issue of the compilation now available only from the Briefs directly. Singles Only is a chronological collection of their singles. As a result you get a two versions of “Poor and Weird” which is no biggie, cause it\u2019s a great song. There are a lot of songs that also appear in different versions on their major releases. Are they drastically different? No, but when presented in the mix with the other non-album singles they offer a fresh way to listen to the Briefs. Non album standouts include “C’mon Squash Me Like A Bug”, “This Age”, “Benny’s Got A Cigarette” and “Dead In The Suburbs”. The crowning glory is a cover of the Kinks\u2019 “Come Dancing” that at first may appear to be a piss take but actually emotes some sort of respect for the original in its\u2019 delivery. Sound quality varies from recording session to session but in the tradition of Single Going Steady, The Briefs\u2019 Singles Only is as good as any full length release they have out and should be a fan favorite. 19 of the best songs in punk today.. Man, the Briefs are good.<\/p>\n
