I wanted to quickly re-set up an old retro cruiser whose bearings were trashed and the wheels were a little small. If it’s an old retro<\/em> cruiser, does that make it a retro retro cruiser?<\/em> Boy do I amuse myself… After checking out the selection at Cal Skate<\/a> I decided to go with OJs Super Juice<\/a> wheels because I liked the profile and they looked the look and as a bonus they came with a very 70’s (or 90’s, 0r 2000’s) looking OJs sticker printed on prismatic vinyl. Bosker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I liked the fact that they had cores, even though it prevent Chris from selling me bearing spacers. You don’t need them with cored wheels….<\/em> OK but old habits die heard. Maybe I need that extra 1\/8 of ounce weight for downhill acceleration. In any case, I had some cross bones on the deck before that looked and rode killer, except they had the feel that they be a little flexi at times, almost like they wanted to pull off the axle. That’s very exaggerated of course, but the cores on these OJs meant that would be an issue. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

You might notice the different core colors, well mine came with an orange core. I thought maybe it had to do with the size of the wheel but it there doesn’t seem to be any correlation. Also, the graphic on my set is slightly different too. Notice the placement of the durometer and wheel size.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So far the wheels are riding really smooth. I wanted them soft and chunky so they fit the bill. They are performing exactly as I’d expected in the low-performance settings they are being given used. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
