Little Steven for Circuit City?
He ain’t gonna play Sun City, but he will travel back in time to pose in youth for a Circuit City email advert. I thought Circuit City went out of business. The funny thing about this is that the web link embedded in the email pulls up a version of Silvio without a skateboard. I mean, he looked kooky enough with the skateboard, but without it he looks like a mental patient. And Speaking of Little Steven, His Underground Garage radio show is pretty good. I heard an episode once a few years ago while traveling and I enjoyed it. As I recall, It was a mixture of old and new bands. I think it’s on satellite radio now too. – Thanks to Troy Sliter for the spam, I mean tip.
Seattle tips on skateboarding
The Seattle Times has two articles on skateboarding, the first is an actually fairly good piece on skatepark etiquette that is filled with good advice, although it’s perplexing because I’m not sure who the audience is. I especially like the first rule, “No free day care.” Up next is the top 10 skateparks in Washington, which I can’t agree wit, but can’t disagree too strongly because I haven’t been to some of them. Bobcat? – Thanks to John Aguilar and Heidi Randall for the tips.
Twinkle toes and Z-straps
Sounds like an adult film of dubious nature, but its two commercials for shoes by Sketchers, the Airwalk of the new millennium. Ok, that’s not fair to Airwalk. There was another Sketchers Z-Strap commercial a year or so ago. Anyway, animated ninjas and sparkly girls shoes make me want to skate.
Sharpie and expression
There are two versions of this Sharpie commercial playing right now. The gist is that Sharpies help you express yourself. What if you couldn’t express yourself? There would be no protests, passion, art…. or graffiti. You’ll notice they covered over the expressions spray painted on the bowl.
Cameras at risk
I found this on the Chase Jarvis blog after getting distracted while researching DIY steadicams. I thought to myself, “That sure looks like the Kent, Washington skatepark,” and I was right. This was a commercial shoot, but for what? At first I thought Chase Jarvis was the annoying dude in the video, but I think it’s the name of a firm. These guys have their web marketing down pat. I believe I saw them highlighted on the Apple site in relation to iPhone photography. Watch Cameras at Risk after the jump.
Friday T&A on S&A: Teach Me!
I’ve heard it involves “fun boxes” of a sort. Full cover after the jump. NSFW. – Thanks to anonymous pervert for the tip!
When vague copyright infringement isn’t enough
Kids have beds. Kids need sheets. Kids love Spiderman. Kids love skateboarding. Kids love cheap imported home goods from manufacturers that aren’t concerned with copyright infringement or having an art director with a fully formed idea. Seeing this picture with all the clashing pop culture characters makes me fear for my kid’s psyche.
Swedish meatballs
Brought to you by Bryggeriets Gymnasium, Mini-Giftorm seems to be an online ‘zine. Some english but mostly swedish. Some cool shots. Can anybody translate?
Double your fun
While I applaud the simulation of the wide angle lens, (The artist is really in touch with skateboarding!) I feel the need to suggest that Jesus could use a bottle of Nair, or maybe he shouldn’t have shaved his legs in the first place. Hand-holding at the skatepark? I’m ambivalent. Guy curious? [Souce: Pleated-Jeans] – Thanks to Ben Reese for the tip.
Juice is loose
New Juice is out. This one features interviews with Dave Tobin, Ben Krahn, Donovan Rice, Exene Cervenka, Brewce Martin, Chris Strople and Slayer among others.
