Sometimes when attempting tricks with a high degree of difficulty such as a 180 or a tail skid, even the best skateboarders loose their balance. In a panic situation, it’s most important to concentrate on falling properly. Following these six fundamental steps can decrease a skateboarders chances of injury.<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Pinpoint the area of impact. A soft area is best.<\/li>\n
  2. Approach with caution, and prepare to absorb the shock of impact by bending the knees<\/li>\n
  3. Tuck down, and use your momentum to carry body weight over the top.<\/li>\n
  4. From here on in, a proper fall, or “bail”, should mirror the stop drop and roll fire prevention technique.<\/li>\n
  5. Roll smoothly on you back, keep limbs tucked.<\/li>\n
  6. Focus on getting back to your feet.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Once this technique is perfected, you are ready to move on to more difficult tricks such as the 360 or the layback slide.<\/p>\n
