Montgomery Ward Christmas Book – 1965, page 398. 1965 was a huge year for skateboards in the Montgomery Ward catalog, they got a full page! Hawthorne skateboards appears to be a private label effort for Montgomery Ward, possibly made by Vita-Pakt (AKA Hobie) if that “Exotic Woods” model is an indication. Also of interest, they also offered a “build your own skateboard kit” comprised of trucks, wheels and bearings. All you needed was a piece of wood. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
