Windsurfer
Because surfing and skateboarding had an association, I guess they though windsurfing would too, even though they are pitching it as more of a boat.
FIVE OF THE MOST OFTEN ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT WINDSURFING
Can anybody Windsurf?
Darn near anybody can. But if you weigh over ninety and under three hundred it helps. Guys and girls, both young and old, Windsurf. It’s not brute strength that’s needed so much as getting the knack of it. To help you get that knack we’ve set up schools all over the U. S. and Europe where, in many countries, it’s become almost a national sport with over ten thousand boats sailing. And we help you get started with a free lesson along with your boat.
Is a Windsurfer® a board or a boat?
It’s really more like a boat. With a twelve foot hull, dagger board and four hundred pounds flotation it behaves like a boat.
Is it a high performance or just a fun boat?
High performance and fun, too. We’ve been clocked at over twenty knots on a reach and that’s fast.
How portable is the Windsurfer®?
A ten year old can carry it. The board weighs forty pounds and the rig twenty. The whole thing goes on top of your Volks or Honda. Some cruising boats take a couple along for harbor fun while anchored.
How do you steer without a rudder?
You tilt the sail forward to come off the wind and back to come up into it. Tilting changes the sail’s center of effort relative to the
lateral resistance of the hull. Write for more information about Windsurfing and Windsurfers®, our schools and their locations to:
