Chicago Trucks
I had pegged this ad as a late 60’s to very early 70’s era piece when I saw it out of context. Now I know it was still being run in 1975, although with slightly different ad copy. The 70’s were a weird time for skateboarding though, with many old technologies and fashions still hanging around on life support for a while. One thing of interest is the key line that looks like it was added by the magazine staff. The layout didn’t fit into the allotted space and you can see the board extending beyond the key line. In the un-retouched (yellowed) scan it is not as noticeable. In several issues it ran above or below different ads for Logan Earth Earth Ski that were the same width and mention Chicago Trucks on the completes, so it seems to follow that the two companies had some sort of arrangement or bought ad space from the same reseller.
