 | The Magazine: In 1980 Skateboarder Magazine rebranded to Action Now in an effort to appeal to a broader audience during a decline in the skateboarding industry. Coverage included BMX, motocross, surfing, downhill bike coasting and other nicest extreme sports, as well as skateboarding. This Issue: The first issue of Action Now after "Skateboarder" changed its name so they could include more than just skateboarding. It was a desperate move to keep the magazine afloat while the industry was in decline. This issue featured 84 pages of mostly skateboarding, but also downhill bike coaster racing, a little surfing and some motocross, as well as a focus on Music, including a 6 page spread about the filming of the "Freedom of Choice" video by the band DEVO . Stacy Peralta is on the cover and would loom large in shaping the industry during the 80's.All adverts in: Action Now |
