Christian Hosoi for Sk8 Candles
Christian Hosoi is involved in a product called a Sk8 Candles, and definitely not Skate Candles. I can’t help but feel like this is an idea we’ve seen before, perhaps not executed with he bearing in the middle, and only in the new school style symmetrical profile, definitely not a Snoopy candle. I like that they have different profiles, especially the 70’s tribute wheel. I probably would have decorated my swingin’ 80’s bachelor pad with these. I don’t think these are going to make a good Mother’s Day gift, unless your mom is rad.
Tobin Heath Soccer Superhero, Skateboarder?
I don’t know if Portland Thorns midfielder Tobin Heath is actually a skateboarder or not. These illustrations come from a collaboration with Dark Horse comics and the Thorns front office designed to sell some t-shirts, scarves, and patches. I suspect it was just an easy way for Dark Horse to conjure a loose (or lazy) association with the Silver Surfer in The illusions and energy manipulation of Tobin. I do know that Tobin has mad soccer skills, and plays for the best women’s team in the world. Both of them, actually. Women’s World Cup is coming this summer.
That’s cold, dude.
There was a time, oh, say anything before the year 2000 when this would have seemed inconceivable. Cross marketing between a mainstream commercial brand and a core skateboarding brand? Not a big deal anymore. No, I don’t know how a “Zine Rolltop Lunch Bag” differs from a regular rollmop lunch bag. It must be more hardcore. Check out the Igloo x Independent Collection. I think the “X” is for eXtreme!
Ikea Spanst Collection
You can’t make this stuff up folks, or maybe you can. IKEA has teamed up with LA-based fashion designer Chris Stamp, and freelance designer Maja Ganszyniec for a limited edition collection: SPÄNST. Inspired by street fashion and an active lifestyle, SPÄNST features furniture, accessories and items for storing, displaying and organizing some of your favorites at home. So whether it’s for a skateboard, the jacket that could be considered a work of art, or for the shoes that look better after each wear, SPÄNST is a way for you to uncover your lifestyle; to exhibit it at home with the same amount of artistry and pride within the four walls, as you do outside of them. This is a handful of months old to be sure, but our site was down when this was fresh. If a tree falls down in a forest when S&A isn’t online….
Morphed Morfboard 2.0
Well, it’s been a few years since the original Morfboard, and now the product has pivoted from a health and fitness based system with skateboarding as a small feature to a completely skateboard-centric approach. Gone is the geometric wakeboard-esque oval, as well as the elastic resistance straps and the links. It’s been replaced with a traditional skateboard deck while still retaining the swappable units allowing you to configure the morfboard into a skateboard, scooter, balance board, and pointless bouncy board. They’re even running TV commercials for it, and it’s shown up at local Costcos as wells the Home shopping Network of all places.
Syck Trix
Like broken glass in the sea, a lot of my sharp edges have been worn down under continuous onslaught. Times have changed, and I no longer burst into laughter when I see things like this skate trainer / ollie trainer called Syck Trix. It’s basically a skateboard with two air bladders replacing the trucks. It’s primarily geared towards little kids and possibly even old men. Syck Trix looks like it came onto market around 2014. It’s really easy to dismiss and ridicule these types of devices, because after all, what better way to learn than actually doing it on a real skateboard? The concept of skateboard training may be foreign to the majority of skaters, but now that parents and kids are seeing guys like Ryan Scheckler, that flying tomato guy, and even Tony Hawk, making a living, many parents and skateboarders are going to find value in something like this. Who can judge the quality of fun that a little kid is having because he used a training device to progress faster than he normally would have? – Thanks to Boy Ipoh at SkateMalaysia.com for the tip.
ISkate Ikea spoof
Welcoming Session Killer to the site as a new sponsor, that is in no way whatsoever just me with a new paypal account. Help support Skate and Annoy, go buy this shirt that is so clever it will make you want to punch me in the face. If you could buy a miniramp kit from Ikea, you can bet that it would be cheap, look sorta nice, and then fall apart after 6 months. $25 post paid in the USA.
R.A.C.O. Beer Boards
I don’t know much about 70’s era R.A.C.O. skateboards other than they loved to use imagery on their products, even their metal boards had some kind of photo sublimation. The collection of fiberglass boards shown here features assorted beverage logos for Schlitz, Budweiser, Olympia, Pepsi, and 7-Up. It’s almost as if R.A.C.O. was the NHS of the 70’s in terms of branded boards. We should be glad that truck hole patterns were standardized. Imagine how much of a pin in the ass it would have been to drill for trucks with a triangular pattern.
Stay Fresh Pony Boy
Stay Fresh Air Enhancements has some skateboard imagery in their line up of auto air fresheners. They have traditional scents like cherry, Piña Colada, and sandalwood, and in the case of the Fred Smith “Loud Ones” logo, something called Blood, Sweat, and Beers. The only thing missing from this line up is a set of double capped Pro-designs with leopard skin spandex that smells like pad-rot.
2015 Powell Christmas Ornaments
It’s the day after Thanksgiving, what are you doing reading this web site when you should be out there winning the battle against ISIS/Daesh through buying Christmas ornaments with skateboarding graphics on them? On Veterans Day you can say you fought with the Bones Brigade.
