Volunteer opportunity
Be a good neighbor and come help out for a couple of hours at the Pier Park Pickup SOLV event tomorrow from 9am – 1 pm. We’ll be doing trash pickup and graffiti coverup at the skatepark. Breakfast treats from Tulip Pastry Shop and hot coffee from Starbucks.
Two towns. Two videos
I’m watching this first video by “Jimmy” that looks like it takes palce in Corvallis and an Harrisburg, Oregon, And I’m thinking, Damn! That’s the scene to be in. What do those guys need help with a skatepark for? Just kidding about the skatepark thing there BCSA, but your locals are tearing it up! The second video was shot at Pier Park by KC, and aside from Thomas shown in the bottom still shot, it mainly features Shane Bell, who looks like he has recovered from his bone break in his leg about a year ago.
SOTW 3-1-10: Fitz over Loveseat
This week’s shot of the week is a Pete Lewis photo of Dave Fitzpatrick hitting the love seat at Gabriel Park, frontside no less. As Dave Duncan would say (over and over and over again) that is no joke. I have to push like a mofo and heave myself over that thing, by which time I’ve lost all sense of poise and balance to invariable end up bailing on my backside attempts. Kudos, Fitz. Thanks to the revitalized Frontside Rock and Roll Review for the pic. Check out the Shot of the Week.
Random Glenhaven Madonna photo
This would be Brian Summers at Glenhaven in Portland. Photo by GVK.
SOTW 2-8-10: Josh Burt at Gabriel Park
This installment of Shot of the Week features Josh Burt at Gabriel Park. The Flash blew out his shirt but it was a happy accident. Check out the Shot of the Week. There’s an outtake after the jump.

Early Burnside video and TV news coverage
I’d place this video at maybe 93-94? That’s my layman’s-I-wasn’t-there guess. It was posted on YouTube by Nate Sherwood, so it’s mostly footage of him as a youngster, but mid way through there is some amusing footage from a local Portland news channel. Seems to be from shortly after the city of Portland decided to leave it alone. Look for Mark Scott in a Turf t-shirt. – Thanks to Malcolm MacMaster for the tip.
Eden from Exit
More things going on in my own back yard that I know nothing about. Portland’s Eden Powers as seen on VIMBY. Some great moves in there, plus a hard face plant on the side of a wall, not to mention a bunch of places that I don’t skate at. I need to get out more. Well, that and a knee replacement.
Mondo Curb
Mondo curb launch ramp is located a block and a half east of the 3D Center of Art and Photography in Portland Oregon. Enlarge-o-rama.
Reader DIY: Candy Ramp
A reader named Ollie (no really) sent in a few shots of his project which goes by the name Candy Ramp because of the piñata used in the christening ceremony. It’s two feet tall with a three foot tall section that goest to vert. Then there’s a six and a half foot tall tombstone made out of a coffee table. Hey, the whole thing was built in under a week, what do you expect? I expect to get hurt when I go over there to ride this thing, but I also expect to have fun. Pics after the jump.
