Future Pads
Polygon is a Swedish company (since 1996) that makes hardware and clothing or something, including funny videos like this one for Future Pads. The web site is mostly in Swedish but for some reason all the video trailers have English voiceovers. To help foreign visitors get the full experience, they have included this helpful bit: We understand the fact that you can’t read our singing language, therefore: if you have any questions or just want to get in touch with our headquarters, maybe you are a fellow skateboard blogger havin’ some kind of link-exchange monkey business knockin’ about or, well ehhh anyway…. No matter, the pictures are in the international language of skateboarding, and these guys (what is Swedish for “dude?”) seem to have a good sense of humor and some good sound equipment. No it’s not, actually.
Listen. Read the title of on the masthead. If anyone is qualified to judge the most annoying skate video, it’s us. Sorry YouTube user eatshit508, but I don’t think your video is the most annoying by far. Sure, some of the kids need to take a couple steps out of their sequences and maybe speed things up a bit. However I think the director approaches this video with the appropriate amount of levity. Watch the video after the jump, plus a bonus clip of what might actually be the most annoying skateboard video. How did this end up in the “Skate” category instead of “Annoy?”

Sometimes you skate a pile of crap
Sometimes you skate a pile of crap, not because you have to, but because it’s fun. OK, only about enough fun for five minutes.

Best Dogtown movie, ever.
That pool shot looks real. Quick, what’s wrong with these pictures? Check out this hardcore documentary after the jump. Skateboarding was never the same again.
You know the drill.
5-Minute Project: Drill-Powered Skateboard is a D.I.Y. project on the Instructables web site. It was a lot cooler before I realized that you were basically dragging the drill on the ground as the fourth wheel. I’m guessing battery powered drills won’t last long under the torque required to move an adult. I can foresee rigs with long extension cords and beer for a racing circuit. [Source: Zedomax.com]
Captain Radical
So we’ve go an eBay vibe running. Here’s an old auction I sent to Neil but he didn’t cover it because it was he forgot, or I never sent it to him in the first place. I can’t remember a thing about this other than I think it was from the U.K.. Quite an awesome starter package though. I’m a hair’s breadth away from having some Captain Radical stickers made for Skate and Annoy. I remember a lengthy discussion about this sticker, but when and where? Slightly larger pics and an additional shot after the jump.
Wrestlemania!
Here you go Neil. Your connection between skateboarding and wrestling. What starts off as a two person altercation between a skater and rollerblader ends up as a 15+ person pyramid death match. One kid pulls a leg drop on his victim. They even jump the referee park supervisor. It’s a very low impact (slap fest!) fight between mostly youngsters. I think these kids must have all been friends, but it’s amusing nonetheless. It’s funny to hear little twerps shouting “Ow! My leg!” Given today’s school-violence hysteria, I’m surprised there wasn’t a more heavy handed reaction from the authorities. Catch the video after the jump. [Source: Worldwide Skateboarding]
Killing it! (?)
Ok, this trick involved riding up on the other side of the railing, doing the boneless grab foot shuffle thing and jumping onto the railing, then off the railing over the cement ledges, and onto the bricks. Makes my knees hurt just looking at it. The purple asterisk is on the print. Apparently I thought this was a good one. Man, was I smooth. I mean, was I? Click the pic to see the details: A 15 pound Uncle Wiggley Argyle deck complete with bird and my skull skates painters cap sporting a Hosoi sticker on the flipped up bill. Sorry ladies, I’m taken. Circa 198.. mumble mumble. University of Illinois quad in Champaign-Urbana. That’s it for me. I’ve got to work today.
And now, a word from our sponsor…
Skate and Annoy is proud to announce our first corporate sponsor, Skateboard Steve’s. Lets see, 24 frames per second multiplied by total seconds multiplied by a picture is worth a 1000 words = ________. Catch the vid after the jump.
Over it! (part 2)
The Skateboarding Robot and the stop-action animated Human Skateboard. Really. That’s enough. Stop writing about it on your blog. (Oops! Too late.) Just in case you haven’t seen it yet, there’s more after the jump, including the the Subhuman Skateboard, AKA the Britney Spears remix.
