Billy Runaway from Addikt Skateboards sent in a few snaps of the newly created Myrtle Creek, Oregon skatepark built by Grindline. An 8,500 square foot park is pretty darn good for a town with a population of 3,419 in the 2000 census.

Yeah, sorry this has turned out to be Portland event central for the past few days at SNA. I had other plans but you know what they say about the best laid plans and opinions, or is that assumptions? Errrr, yeah. There’s one skate art show (Hecklewood’s Board Pushers) and one skate art auction for charity (Complete Skate) both happening Thursday December 4th in Portland. One of these days someone is actually going to ask me to take part in one of these instead of just posting about it. Hey skateboarding community! I went to art school. I’m an artist! UPDATE: The Complete skate event is just a showing, the auction takes place online.

I finally finished the fourth volume of Hopeless Old Men On Skateboards. This one features comics 301-400 (which originally appeared between November 19, 2007 – April 25, 2008). It’s available as a full-color ($29.45 plus shipping) or the econo black and white book with a color cover ($9.97 plus shipping). It is also available as a downloadable PDF ($3.75). It was great to see some of these again. You can buy a copy through the Antigravity Press store at Lulu.com. The prices at Lulu went up a little. I didn’t raise my measly profit though.

Bacon is premiering their new video titled Raw Dog and Falafels. Which reminds me: I at one of those middle-eastern pita sandwiches once, and boy did I FALAWFUL! Thank you! Don’t forget to tip your waitress. But seriously folks. The premier is Friday at DOS and they’ve rented out the bowl so the skating is free and so is the product from Bones and Lowcard. A couple weeks ago I mentioned that the old Australian pro Tony Hallam had a web site that was chock full of images of his massive skateboard history collection, but it was missing some images. It looks like everything is back in place, so this is the official invitation to check out Tony Hallam Skateboarding. The images above are from one of his traveling exhibitions. That Vision vert ramp setup is perfect. I especially like that one mannequin is in mid-bail. Tony’s site is expansive, so be prepared to spend some time there.

Remember when Wisconsin boy Zach Kral destroyed that pasty faced Dutch kid’s old world record? Well, some other kid beat him again, and I kind of lost interest in the whole thing. That is, until Zach broke it again last week (on his 14th birthday) at the 4 Seasons Skatepark in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I love the midwest (as long as I’m not there in the winter) and this was as good an excuse as any to re-use a good graphic. The new record, according to the folks at Guiness is 1,546 consecutive kickflips. Under their rules, no body part can touch the ground at all. Dang, I should have lumped this together with the other Guiness record post. Everyone seems to be slow in updating, even his father!

In Brazil, Danny Way broke his back on the Megaramp. He will recover, of course, because all Megaramp competitors are actually time traveling cyborgs built by Skynet. Watch the video after the jump. It’s not in English, but really, it’s more entertaining this way. Speaking of entertainment. Rob Thomson now holds the world record for Longest Journey by Skateboard, clocking in at 12,159km, or about 7,500 miles. It’s confusing though, because the “journey” took place in different non-adjacent locales and had periods of weeks in between legs. Sounds more like a record for the biggest lapse of judgement by Guinness officials. Maybe they cut him some slack due to the unsual circumstances reported by One India: The strangest food he tried was horse-penis salami in Kyrgyzstan, which he said tasted “like the smell of a sweaty, old, dirty horse. Uh yeah. Go figure. You can read all about it in his forthcoming book about the experience.
