Mountain Dew Rush
We live in a world so extreme that, err… uh, different commercials for different.. planets I guess. It’s been a while since we’ve visited the car-as-skateboard theme, nay, archetype. Nope? Too soon. OK. – Thanks to… I can’t remember. I ‘ve been out of the loop for a while. Hit me up and I’ll add it.
Antifornia
Are you sick of fly by night DIY spots? Not me. Check out this short documentary on Antifornia in the UK by Sean Pointing. Antifornia is pretty much a one man show by an interesting character named Dave Dixon, seemingly antisocial but easy going and friendly at the same time. It takes all types tomake the skating world interesting. In fact, that’s your homework assignment for the month. Go skate with someone you don’t like and and make a point of having fun. And I mean skate with them, not just at the same time and place as them. Meanwhile, watch Antifornia after the break. – Thanks to Mike Egbert for the tip.
BaCapella to the Future
Singularly the goofiest thing I’ve seen in awhile. I was confused at first, but burst out laughing at the 56 second mark. The thing that really makes it is the voiceover and sound effects are all done by the same guy, multitrack Matt Mulholland. Sit down and watch the birth of the skateboard from the chase scene in Back to the Future, but with an a capella soundtrack. If you dig it, check out his Matrix scene too. Yeah, I watch Glee. – Thanks to Andrew Wahl for the tip.
Summer is still over.
Checkout this video from Tom Bender featuring a summer’s worth of skating in Portland, Oregon with nary an old man in sight! Go on a PDX bender after the jump. (Sorry, couldn’t resist.)
Sponsor Luv: Jesse McDowell on Merde
Jesse McDowell works a mean trowel and rides for Merde. Egbert had this to say: Jesse has been riding for us for about 5 months now, I think. Whenever he was in town, we’d try and get some filiming in, but he’s a pretty busy guy…building parks and what not. Either way, welcome aboard Mr. McDowell! We’re happy to have you as part of the family. Catch the sponsor luv after the jump.
It’s in Salem
The spot from yesterday’s Shot of the Week is in Salem, Oregon. Thanks to Ryan Hass for the picture.
Undershirts are..
..one syllable a way from underpants, which would make this post even creepier. Some people go on vacation and take pictures of the scenery. MC travelled to NYC on a whirlwind tour of skateparks and Target stores and came back with this.
SOTW 9-19-11: Pillar of the community
