Freestyle from beyond the grave
I’m not sure if this is leftover Ghost Rider merchandise that was repurposed or what. The skeleton man riding this rather wide “freestyle” board is probably scared to death of those M.C. Escher brand trucks that are somehow mounted upside down. At least they aren’t backwards. Freestyle Tattoos. Look for them in your grocery store. – Thanks to Andrew Wahl for the tip.
Interior monologue
Felippe Lovecchio’s interior design. His web site is full of renders, none of it looks like actual photographs, but hey, I’d like to see this built. It’s a nice break from concept renderings of electric skateboards. Photo from Facebook. – Thanks to Boy for the tip.
Electric skateboard of the week
The Ground Surf from 1135 Garnet looks like it might be a design concept and not an actual product as of yet. There are next to zero details on the site. Sensors supposedly adjust speed by weight placement, which seems like it might be hard to control. Good news though, if you fall off those sensors will apply the brakes. Nice neo-art deco design. If Deckard rode an electric skateboard, this is what it would look like. [Source: The Khooll] – Thanks to Kathleen for the tip.
The Deer Hunter
Best crash vid ever. It’s hard to tell from this still frame, but that’s Ryan Vitale’s downhill run ending abruptly courtesy of the local wildlife during the third annual Buffalo Bill Downhill in Golden, Colorado with no major injuries to either party. The perks of public service?
This is a photo from Portland’s ongoing light rail expansion project to nearby Milwaukie, Oregon. It used to be located on the front page of the web site for the Bureau of Transportation, but it’s oddly missing now, so the doctored photo that Sam from SkateOregon isn’t nearly as topical now, but you can check it out after the jump. Although these concrete channels look skateable, I am pretty sure they will be buried and then filled with dirt and train tracks.
Tim Brauch
Jones from Skate Virus sent in this shot of Hosoi form last weekend’s 14th annual Tim Brauch contest. Pretty amazing that it’s still going on. More pictures a nd a shot write up on Skate Virus.
Bite me
An in store promo item for the Bart Simpsons Butterfinger campaign. Sure, it’s old, but Bart Simpson never goes out of style. It’s too bad that show went off the air… Wait? It’s still on? It’s too bad that show is still on the air. I actually haven’t watched it lately. It went through a phase when they clearly should have called it quits, and then it got good again, but I couldn’t get into it again. I’m more of a Bob’s Burgers guy these days. Get some.
Tillamook spot check
I went to Pacific City, Oregon towards the end of the summer. Remember summer? Fer sure dude. I had to get some radical sandboarding action in. On the way home through Tillamook I spotted these banks on a building that was a real estate agency, if my memory serves me correctly. Tillamook is a bit of a ghost town. At least it is at 8:00 on a Sunday night. I recently switched from eating Tillamook yogurt to Chobani. I “ate locally” for long time but I wanted to ditch some of that sugar.
I want to skate
No kidding? Me too. Arthur King made these alternative skateboards and Hugues Lawson-Body photographed them. {Source: White Zine] – Thanks to Matthijs for the tip
