Cabbage Patch Radness
!997? I can’t believe they hauled the Cabbage patch kids out of the mothballs and tried to saddle them with another dormant fad, skateboarding.
Diamond Grind
Yeah, yeah, pool coping is the way to go, but if you have to go with metal coping, Diamond Grind might be worth checking out. It appears to give you a little grab without sticking. I’ve never seen or ridden it in person, but the video makes it seem like it might be a good thing. Plus, you can’t put pool coping on a rail.
Burnquist had milk
Back in 2003, Bob Burnquist had milk. Holy cow, that was 10 years ago. I think Hawk did one too.
Friday T&A on S&A: Body Paintng
DiSturb PhotoGraphy has a gallery of girls in skateboard graphic body paint, among other things. – Thanks to Eric Cherry for the tip.
Burnside Scammer
From the Burnside Facebook page: Burnside Skatepark Aubre/AJ is approaching businesses in portland, “selling” advertising at the park, but he is keeping the money for his own use. the park does not sell advertising and he is committing fraud. he is ripping off businesses who think they are supporting the park, and making the park look bad in the process. UPDATE: Koin 6 has video.
Where’s Penny?
In the vein of Where’s Chin, and of course Waldo, Jon Horner made another illustration to accompany Flip’s Tom Penny Cheech & Chong graphic. The large versions are up on Gentlemanly Conduct. As seen in Sidewalk Magazine. – Thanks to Simon Mrozinski for the tip.
Who will make the commercials?
Drink Water is trying to get people to skip the energy drinks and buzz cola in favor of drinking water instead. They don’t sell water, but they sell shirts, stickers and water bottles with the logo. 10% of the profits go towards water.org, an organization working towards getting clean drinking water for the almost 1 in 9 people in the world who don’t have access to clean water. Man, that seems really high. And for our purposes, they have a promo video with some skateboarding in it. This whole thing sounds like a bit in Portlandia. If we don’t drink energy drinks and soda, who will make TV commercials with skateboarding or sponsor the contest series that air on TV to show those commercials? – Thanks to Tom Bender for the tip.
Pro-force Progurt
Yogurt is Extreme!™, especially when it’s… I don’t know. Cold? Who is that DC wearing model/athlete? We’ll never know. Unless you do. – Thanks to RJ from Pittsburgh for the tip.
Izod Lacoste
This is an Artprint and Lacoste collaboration, Paris Vogue reports it’s a €250 ($334) complete skateboard, which includes the little Izod alligator. Supposed to be available at Colette in Paris, but doesn’t show up in the store at this point. Really, none of this surprises me at this point. Ironically, in the 80’s frat boys were often sporting Izod polo shirts as they harassed campus skate punks. Nowadays they have fratboards. The rubber mat grip tape looks kind of cool. – Thanks to Pep for the tip.
