Skatesurfer

This is the Skatesurfer from RC Sports, Not to be confused with the RC cola skateboard. It features the gold standard of performance accessories – “Rol Best” wheels. You know this the very best they have to offer, because the pro-line checkbox comes after “special” and “supreme.” It comes assembled in a box, but it also includes a sticker mounting instructions for the trucks. A very specific sticker actually, right down to the option between Chicago or Sure-grip trucks. and which size screws to use in each case. This should place this skateboard somewhere in the 70’s, although I usually associate the ridged construction on the bottom with late 80’s toy store boards at the earliest. Very interesting, in a very nerdy sort of way. This one came from Aarons Toys and sold for $80. Holy cow, RC Sports in Olathe Kansas is actually still in business! They only sell roller skates and inline skates these days, but ironically there’s a skate tool from Pig Wheels on the front page.

Round on the end and “Hi” in the middle

Stuck In Ohio, brings you The Definition of Ohio Skateboarding. It’s a skateboard specific part of a larger project. There are two things I like about this video; the attitude and the wealth of cool looking spots. Remember Surf Ohio! Also, We are all Devo.

40/40

Remember 50 on 50? 40 Year Old Janitor does 40 Mini-Ramp Tricks at Jolly Roger Skateboards. I just reached the big 4-0 so I figured I would see what 40 tricks I could pull off on our mini-ramp last night. Warning: there are no McTwists or flip tricks in this video. I am really not much of a Birthday person but if you want to give me a gift come by and buy yourself something nice from the shop. – Thanks to Tim Jamison for the tip.

Targeted for X-Mas

Retailers are sending out Christmas mailings already. Target has a few skateboard related images in their catalog; A giant skateboard prop for Shaun White’s clothing line, and a posed photo of a little kid who looks like he just released a tail grab. he’s getting some awesome footage of his knees. I want that giant skateboard. I do not want the chest harness. I a also not looking forward to a GoProbe, with or without harness.

Simon Woodstock Story (on video)

You know, it seems like I’ve read some of this before somewhere… No? Death Skateboards produced a good two part video of the Simon Woodstock story. It includes some interesting history on Sonic Skateboards and lot’s of, dare I say, rare footage? Check it out after the jump.

Terror in Tahoe/Tehran

This is not a computer rendering, nor is it the Streetdome dressed up for Halloween. It is in fact an actual skatepark in Terahn, Iran. You can find some construction pictures of the precast concrete park at this website, which I can’t even begin to tell you the name of. I can’t imagine who else would have made this besides Spohn Ranch, but it’s not listed on their site. Maybe they are ARC fabrications. In the interest of better relations between our two fine countries, I’m including the song “Ayatollah” by Steve Dahl & Teenage Radiation. It’s Weird Al style song parody dating back to the thick of the Iran Hostage crisis way back in 1979. Just look at how far we’ve come… [Photo: Streetboarder]

GoProbe on SNL

The Chris Rock hosted episode of Saturday Night Live was mostly not very funny with a few exceptions, one of them being this fake commercial for The GoPro colonoscopy edition, AKA the Go Probe. It targets an extreme audience of a certain age, and I’m sure I don’t know what this is about. You can see a few stills here, but old man Michaels doesn’t believe in embedding, so you have to check out the NBC web site to watch the video.

Space Rocket XS-17

If you search for the Space Rocket XS-17, pretty much every image shows it with skis instead of wheels, but this one here has wheels on it. This is where it gets tricky when you’re trying to pinpoint the first commercially available skateboard, because there were certainly several skateboard-like devices manufactured in the 50’s and even earlier. While this may not have been manufactured for riding in an upright position, it’s an easy conclusion to jump to that assumes these were ridden standing up at some point. – Thanks to David ODK for the tip.

2 for 1 Dork Sessions

We’re running a 2 for 1 special on Dork Sessions today. First up we’ve got some extreme wheelbarrowing from Alexander Siegfried. The gag is executed pretty well, even if it does run a little long. Next we have a tribute to Breaking Bad in the form of a toy Winnebego mounted with skateboard trucks. Yes, that is that a Tonka Truck. [Source: Sploid] – Thanks to Tim for the tip.

Burnside Fund Matching Emergency!

Burnside is getting new neighbors who are reclaiming some of the territory in the north parking lot, but on the bright side, the developers have agreed to match donations up to $5000 for further park maintenance. The downside is that this post is horribly late, and the deadline for donations is on Halloween, which is tomorrow. Right now there is only a paltry $280 in the kitty. This is a golden opportunity to double your money and help fund Burnside.
