eBay Watch: February 2010

Damn, it seems like I make excuses every month for how late the column is! Well this month I have a real excuse: I was in Maui on vacation. I considered taking a laptop with me for about 10 seconds, but then the hassles of getting it through security and having something else to carry made me realize that it was a bad idea. Not to mention the fact that I realized that there would be no way I would be spending 4 hours inside typing while in Maui. Sorry guys, I had other stuff to do. I also became a US citizen in March, so that chewed up some time too! It’s been a busy month all in all.

Henry Gutierrez = Virginia Beach = Mid Atlantic, not North East.

  3. Cheers, Neil, another good reading to start April (not even an April ‘s fool in your selection ? An Alva for 24$ or a set of mint Kryptos for 36

Nice one again!I can’t keep up with your changing preferences on the decks but after a close look (and read) it all makes sense. You are the graphic/detail master!
    No more Caballero’s please.

  6. Damn, those black&white 50/50 Sims 63’s are AWESOME.

And yes, that white Hosoi looks fishy (no not in that way…) and very ‘new’.
There’s a thing to say about reissues with old school truck holes but please print ‘reissue’ somewhere on the deck, like PP does.
Making them indistinguishable from the real thing only causes confusion and fraude. One guy on ebay recently had trouble with his Schmitt Stix Miller deck.I think it was a reissue.

  8. How’s the new park in Lahaina?

I didn’t see the new park in lahaina. Just did the regular tourist shit there: front street and cheeseburgers in paradise. Plus a sunset whale watching cruise. Unreal.

quitter–I agree, but the Hosoi wasn’t an official reissue. It was a handmade reproduction by an individual or individuals unknown.

Neil,I agree with you.I have a great appreciation for those handmade reproduction decks in small numbers. It usually means high quality and care.
Not that I care about Hosoi decks…(“Boooooooooh,go away!!”)

    1. It poured the day I tried to skate Paia. Torrential downpour for three or four hours. I’m sorry I missed out…

  16. H.O.N., you have way more knowledge than I however, if I do remember correctly the “nightmare” was actually made by Walker, not Lake. Didn’t check out the original listing so they may have had it wrong.

Those sims t-tones are pretty rad, had some of those on a Skull skates way back when.

baade, of course it was, you are right. That’s a case of my fingers typing faster than my brain was going. Thanks for catching that.

Well,H.O.N.,let’s forgive you the typo. The skater’s name is Lake and you were busy putting this great watch together.

That Mike Smith comes from the period when he rode some weirdo trucks that had a removable section of hanger you could replace when it got all ground down. A guy I skated with had a set, but I can’t remember what they were called. I think they advertised in Poweredge. Anybody?

  20. What do you think Blair prefer’s more?
    Doughnuts by the case?
    Or mayo by the gallon?

  21. Was it WEBB trucks?
