Redmond, Oregon skatepark

Red’s Redmond

I don’t know exactly where this park falls in the Dreamland timeline. I think it happened after the initial Lincoln City park, but before Newberg. In fact, the park isn’t listed on the Dreamland web site, (Update: It is actually. – I think wasn’t there at one time, and I was going from memory.) and the physical sign on site credits “Mark Scott Construction LLC.” I’ve heard a lot of smack talk about the Redmond park, so I was prepared for something hideous, but it really wasn’t bad. You can tell it’s early on in the evolution though.

Here’s the big bowl. The coping is kind of gnarly at this point. Here’s how it gets used for the most part.

Hey! It’s GVK ruling finding a way to skate vert on the street course!

I didn’t get this guys name, but he’s the guy at the skatepark landing these things all day long…

Billy from Salem.

Here’s the snake run, something I was really looking forward to skating. It’s super fun, but you have to check your speed or you’ll end up blowing out of it.

GVK with the creeper variation. Nice shoes.

The “L” bowl is fun despite the shallow end washouts.

And here’s Billy again. You may not be able to tell from the photo, but this air was HUGE!

  1. Dig the lace savers Grover.

  2. Love Redmond- the snakerun is like riding Grffin Park or North Vancouver but with a nice transfer. Billy Bacon destroys that place, I think he was born on the decks.

Looking back at construction and opening pics… LC1 1999 Newberg 2000 Redmond 2001, I remember it wasn’t greatly received at time and seemed restrained after those 2 and Aumsville. I’d gladly trade my local for that bowl.

I loved the big bowl, it’s a replica of the old Hanger ramp bowl

  9. I’d add to ehdubya‘s Dreamland early timeline with

    1999
    Lincoln City

    2000
    Newport, Newberg, Aumsville

    2001
    Redmond, Donald, Brookings

    2002
    Port Orford, Astoria
