While you were sleeping…
…they tore down the “skatepark” in Cannon Beach, Oregon. The old park, seen in all it’s glory above, thanks to Skateoregon.com, was more of a spot than a skatepark. It was less than stellar. You can catch a few frames of skating “action” at Seeside in the GVK episode Skate Ghost, at the 6:21 mark. The blog for Cannon Beach’s City Manager hasn’t been updated regarding the skatepark, but Placed to Ride has the contract and a picture of the construction company that was hired to do the retaining walls. I guess they (Mc Ewan Construction) also made a donation to the project. PTR should be breaking ground next week. I liked their work on Seaside, and given the size and location of the Cannon Beach plot, I’m predicting something similar in nature.
– Thanks to G.N. for the tip. (Who isn’t this G.N.)
I’m loving the hamsters in a nest.
Kilwag, you would have heard of this weeks ago if you read Sleestak…. ha ha….
I hope PTR does a better job at Cannon Beach than they did at Seaside, which is so crowded it’s like a 15,000 sf design packed into 7000 sf or so.
Bah! I like Seaside. It is small and packed, but it’s also different from the others. Not a destination park, but I’m sure it does exactly what the locals need. I wouldn’t want all parks to be like Seaside, but a few are fine.
Yeah and if I spent all the time on Sleestak that I used to I wouldn’t have time to write here. Bobcat knows I still love him.
I Agree I like Seaside too! Perfect beach destination park… feels like an unpredictable wave.
but you’d have more stuff to write about.. like chads mental breakdown in the woodland park thread
I’ll shed a tear for Cannon Beach. One of the origional shitty parks of oregon, but always a novelty to skate at. :,(
Back in the day Cannon Beach was the s&%t. We’d drive 8hrs to Richmond, 9 to north van, 3hrs to the Cage in Eugene, but to have Cannon Beach only 1hr away….sweet!
