You light up my life
If you want light LED skateboard wheels without all the effort of making them yourself you can always go the store bought route. Availabel in red, blue and poo-brown! That guy in the middle has the Delorean Motors back-to-the-future skateboard wheels. Bonus (?) LED riser pads after the jump.
LED Skateboard Wheels
Below: On the left we have Vert Zone wheels which you can buy online from assorted outlets for $19.99. On the right we have some more color options from Camelian:
Camelian Lighted Skateboard Wheels come with advanced hand poured Adva Klear* clear Polyurethane tires and hard black nylon hubs. Because of their advanced design, they weigh no more than non-lighted wheels. They have three lights each but they appear with 24 lights when in motion.
Camelian Wheels is where the awesome cartoon skating guy came from. Camelian makes wheels for inline skates too. It doesn’t seem to be possible to buy these things without bearings, although surprisingly, there are size options. The color schemes for inline skates are more varied from manufacturers. I guess inline skaters already have a very high threshold for being embarrassed by by their choice of sporting goods, so there’s more room to experiment.
Those Vert Zone wheels look like they would be unstable as hell if they have urethane cutouts so large and close to the outer surface of the wheels. There’s another LED skateboard wheel company out there called Volcanic Wheel, but their web site isn’t responding. I can’t imagine that they went out of business.
There’s a guy on eBay that will sell you imported china from China. Oh yeah, and some LED skateboard wheels too. He’ even got them available in a complete board kit with Lightning Wheels.
LED Riser Pads
Why not get some LED Riser Pads with those wheels? SK8Visions makes flashing LED Riser pads that are designed purely for look instead of for illumination. The even have a color option that will mimic the cherries on top of the cars of your local 5-0. Does Brad Dorfman know your using that name? There used to be a company that made LED risers that were used to provide forward lighting like headlights. I can’t seem to find those guys online.
I found this very earnest “review” online. I can’t tell if the guy is being facetious or not.
