Phase one of Gold Hill, Oregon’s new skatepark in memory of Tom Fish, has been completed. It’s a Dreamland project. It looks fully rideable now, but of course the grand opening is set for April 2nd.

In some sort of bizarre twist of fate, the city of Eugene, Oregon found itself with a giant surplus of cash and decided to fund floundering skatepark efforts. Sk8Eugene had this to say:
In a monumental unanimous decision, the Eugene City Council today voted 8-0 in favor of endorsing the Eugene Parks Department’s recent proposal to allocate additional SDC (Systems Development Charge) funds for the development and construction of the WJ Skatepark in order to begin construction of the ENTIRE proposed skatepark in 2013. Just as importantly, the Parks proposal does not require additional private fundraising for near term ongoing maintenance. Although a continued capital private fundraising campaign will be necessary and ongoing, the Eugene Parks Foundation has stepped up to spearhead these additional private fundraising efforts.

A new skatepark coming together in Kona, Hawaii:
We are raising money for the next phase of what will be a close to 30,000 sf. Dreamland skatepark in Kona, Hawaii right next to the ocean. The Dreamland crew were here last month and completed their first phase of what will be atleast 4 phases total as money becomes available. This is a design/build project by Dreamland skateparks – We just have to raise the funds. Anything helps and ads up to anyone that donates it would be greatly appreciated.

I spotted this at the Beaverton Goodwill over the weekend. If you’re from the Pacific Northwest you can identify this shirt from across a crowded room, but if you aren’t you may need to see the enlargement.

The Portland premier of the Power Riders Wheels video titled Plug in Tune Out is Saturday 18th @ 9 pm, at the A&L Sports Bar at 60th and Glisan. $5 dollars at the door goes to help rebuild the Scott barn that recently burned down. Trailer after the jump.
I’ve been staying at a ranch out in the middle of nowhere, Montana. One of the staff heard me mention wanting to travel into Missoula to check out the skatepark. Turns out I could cut my drive time down from one hour to 15 minutes. The little town of St Ignatius, population 811, has a skatepark. St Ignatius is near the Flathead Indian Reservation, and in fact Native Americans made up approximately 40% of the population in the last census. St Ignatius received a Tony Hawk Foundation grant in 2006. That grant helped fund phase 1 of the park. Phase 2 of the park was completed by Dreamland on July 8th.
