This is the story of Peter Perret, the songwriter, singer and guitarist of The Only Ones. It is an interesting story of a genius, beautifully written by a talented writer. It follows Perrets life, from his first band England's Glory, through The Only Ones, and through the 15 years after. Fifteen wasted years, living in a decaying London mansion, selling off antique furniture, hiding from the drug squad, and ignoring a massive talent while chasing the dragon. True gothic squalor. It ends with Perret forming a new band--The One, and everything seems rosy. However, the band has since split. Hopefully Peter is off the junk though. Even if you are not familiar with The Only Ones music, you should try to find this book.
