Horrorpops: Bring It On!
Label: Hellcat
Release Date: 9/18/05
Review Date: 4/3/06

Somehow a couple years have passed and the Horrorpops have not become chart toppers. One can only assume that’s because they lost the lovely Mille as back up go-go dancer (nothing against Naomi!) This is the second release and suffers a little from second album syndrome. As whole it’s not as fresh sounding or memorable as the first record. Some of the songs kind of blend together and the production is not as clean as the first one, burying the vocals and at times making it hard to distinguish lyrics. On the plus side there still some great tunes on here, most notably “Hit and Run”, “You vs. Me”, and “S.O.B.”. And “Walk like a Zombie” might be predictable from a band with psychobilly leanings, but it’s not generic at all. Nekroman may want a break from singing with the Nekromantics, but he and Patricia ought to share vocals more often. “Walk Like a Zombie” seems to be the best realized song on the album. The Horrorpops are at their finest when they playfully bend genres and mix it up a little. If liked Hell Yeah there’s plenty to enjoy on Bring it On!
