Love And Rockets: Sorted! Best of Love And Rockets

Beggars banquet has been steadily reissuing the Love and rockets catalog, so it was only a matter of time before we saw a greatest hits compilation. I can’t recommend this anemic cd to anyone other than the most casual fan who just wants a couple of songs and that’s it. First of all, this should have been a double CD, even by the band’s standards. The hits are there, some of them in non-album versions, and that’s about it. Some songs probably could have been left off too. The packaging is nothing special either. A boxed set is what you really need if you want to get your neo-goth on with Love and Rockets. Newcomers (Ok, humor me…) would be better served by picking up the full release of Express or Earth. Sun. Moon. So get it straight: this is not weak because the material isn’t good. It’s weak because the release should have been bigger and had more lavish packaging deserving of it’s contents. Also ot now is a DVD of the same title featuring the bands videos. It’s got a different track listing plus lots of extras like solo material, interviews, and artwork. Now that’s more like it.
