The concept of Porno Sonic seems like a hilariously good idea. However, Porno Sonic is a mediocre collection of fake porno music that is utterly boring and forgettable. I couldn’t recognize any of the movie titles and I couldn’t be bothered to research this record so I’m going toassume that they are fake. The copywrite is listed as 1999, and Don Argott is given credit for penning them, with occasional help from Mike Viggiani. Pornosonic gets an A for concept but an F for follow through. Why not actually release old porno soundtrack music? Why not include voice over from actual movies? Ok, so maybe the master tapes are wrecked, lost, or unfinished. Why not re-record the original songs in manner that is faithful to the originals? Instead we get some warmed over half-assed funky toons (not tunes) that are obvious copies of what someone thinks you want to hear. The keyboards sound like they are being played by the stillborn child of Billy Preston and Money Mark. As an added “bonus” the listener is treated to a couple of voice overs by Ron Jeremy. And like everything he does, it’s horribly forced and cheesy. I don’t understand the cult of Ron Jeremy. Sure, he screwed a lot of skanky women on film. Big deal. His involvement with this record appears to be little more than a ploy to lend credibility to the project. To make matters worse, this record clocks in at measley 30 minutes or so. Pass on this.
