Ann Beretta: To All Our Fallen Heroes
Label: Lookout
Release Date: 1999
Review Date: 2001
From Richmond VA comes the Clash meets Rancid assault of Ann Beretta on this 14 track masterpiece. Mid paced, energy charged PUNK ROCK with melodies to spare, shout-along choruses etc. God this is good! Songs about the state of the punk scene, relationships, personal politics, but all done with intelligence, and more importantly, with fucking great songs. This is the kind of album that reminds you why you liked punk rock to begin with! It will make you want to search out their other albums. Standouts are the opener, "Fire in the Hole", "Push to Shove", "Vengeance", and they do a fine cover of "Surrender". The 1 low point is the ska tinged "Burning Bridges":please keep those horns away from me!
Recommended. This gets 8 stars.
You'll like this if: you like The Clash.
