Bellingham Washington Skatepark Additions
I got a bunch of rainy photos from John Aguilar and some words from Dan Hughes. Hughes will have pictures up eventually. I'll link to them when he get's them up. These are Dreamland addtions to an existing skatepark built by someone else.
From Dan Hughes:
The Ditch has quirky fun written all over it, it functions as a nice grom area and can be skated in so many different ways!
My initial take on the new bowl is that it is really fun. The deep is 10 feet (9 and 1), and perfectly smooth. The design lends it self to some nice speed lines. It's all slanted downhill toward the deepend (no waterfalls), so it takes very little effort to get speed for the deep end. I found a speed line for my fs airs and I had to hold back, I had so much speed a couple of times I just flailed through the air!
The coping looks to be Tedders coping in the deepend, and nicely set pipe coping in the shallower areas, except for the pocket, it has pool blocks too.
Hips are nicely made. Reminded me of the old ballard bowl in some ways, though there's more hips and they are a little steeper. Finally, Bellingham skaters have something that is worth skating! Stoked!!!
That's all folks.
