Day Seven:
Today started out on a high note when Grover took his toast in the bathroom with him so he could finish his breakfast while on the john. Work-wise it was pretty mellow. We pulled in around 10:00 and began to fill in some extra ribs in the flat bottom. Then we scrounged through the dumpster looking for scraps of 2x4’s and plywood so we could begin the very tedious process of leveling out the flat bottom. Even more tedious was the arguing about the various methods of doing so. There were lots of wacky high-jinks. Most notable was the battle between the Grover and Gordo methods of leveling. As soon as one person left, the other would undo and then redo the other’s work. We sent Gordo out for more missing supplies so that we could start attaching the transitions without arguing. He came back and liked what he saw. We continued the slow and annoying process of attaching and leveling the trannies with only the occasional break to watch Grover lip sync to Billy Idol on the new wave radio station. Every so often a local would stop for a gander. One kook asked us if we were going to cover the ribs with snow. I guess he hasn’t watched the X-games before. By 5:00 we had everything attached and all the somewhat level. We didn’t have the right screws for the first ply so we called it a day. We were also sick of leveling and lifting. We figured that if hadn’t been for all the B.S. we would be on the second ply by now. We were looking forward to skating at night but Marine Supply was closed and Real Ride was having BMX night again for the love of Christ.
Next Day First ply!
