Peach to Parasite: New Orleans D.I.Y.

New Orleans is the largest U.S. city without a skatepark! It’s been a long time since we’ve reported on the scene that gave birth to the now defunct Peach Orchard. Since then the park has a new name to go with a sanctioned location and some ramps donated by Spohn Ranch, leftover from the Mississippi Grind skatepark on a floating barge. The next step is to get back to their D.I.Y. roots by pouring their own transition, and they need your help. Parasite Park has one of the slickest incentive programs via kickstarter that I’ve seen. They’ve got some great looking gear that starts at just $7. Go help ’em out!

  1. New Orleans deserves a park, and donations to it, cuz they’re some talented skaters there, and plenty of young-ish people, and the skaters certainly seem to be working to make it happen. But, with a Dreamland park sixty miles away, (which is how I’ve seen how good some of the Nola talent is), they are not nearly as proper-park-less per capita as the much more populous U.S. metropolitan area of Miami/Dade, which has never had any public tranny worth a damn this century (unless you’re into Spohn Ranch quarter pipe sections)… which is ridiculous considering the population. New Orleans is simply not as ridiculous in this regard… but more deserving of support because of it.
