Team Pain in Tampa

Public meeting to unveil and discuss the proposed design for a new skatepark in Tampa, Florida, to be built by Florida’s own Team Pain. The meeting will be held October 8th, at SPOT.

From Team Pain:

Team Pain Skate Park’s is conducting a Skatepark Input meeting for thePerry Harvey Senior Park.

With most municipal Skateparks, part of the process is to get the directinput from the skate community (bike, skate) and thus we invite you to comeand provide your input on the design of the new park. With the overwhelming attention that this project has gotten, we want to make sure that we stick to the process and conduct this meeting for constructive purposes. Currently, there has only been viewings of the concept and its development. As we near the completion of the skatepark ‘s new design, we want to provide the community with a chance to give us direct feedback and also to answer your questions.

We know that the Skate community is divided on the preservation of the existing park and as skatepark builders and consultants, we completely understand and respect both sides. Please come and provide your constructive input. The meeting will take place at the Skatepark of Tampa, Tuesday the 8th at 6:30PM to approximately 7:30PM. We will have a short Presentation of the design and then followed by a Q&A session. Thank You and hope to see you all there.

The city wants to demolish the Bro Bowl as part of a public works project and build a new park a short ways from the site. They have not disclosed any of the proposed design yet. There is also talk of moving part of the old bowl and incorporating it into the new park.
I’m not entirely against what the city wants to do but I fear the new park will suck if the Tampa city council has any input on the project. BTW the Bro Bowl was recently made a historical site by Florida and that could heavily influence any decisions on the park. It will suck to see the Bro Bowl go. I’ve skated it many times and will miss it.

    1. Oh no! Bro Bowl! I was afraid that was what hey meant by “the preservation of the existing park.” I’ve never ridden it, just seen pictures. Always meant to check it out when in that part of the state. Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today!
