  1. Not a fan of tight trannies, Kilwag? Then you’d probably not get along with Auntie Larry.

    1. I don’t skate anymore, I just repost stories about other people skating.

Some of us just prefer it tight.

    That’s what I’m talking about!

  4. What is this, a horror movie based in the south side of Chicago starring that gal that looks just like Gillian Anderson but isn’t? DON’T SAY THAT NAME (in your headline), or he will appear. Candyman, I jes remembered, was the name you weren’t supposed to say in the movie… but this is a skate blog, and you just said the very name of a serial killer of interestingness. Damn, man.

    1. Seriously! WTF are you thinking Kilwag!?

  5. Plus, tain’t really a bowl if you can’t pump it.

  6. Yea, that doesn’t look fun at all to me.

If this was in Mr. Kilwag’s basement it’d be filled with skate related toys.

    1. That it would be perfect for. In fact, I think it should be referred to as a basket.

    2. Haw haw!

  8. I can’t believe I have to explain a Ramones song reference. “Hey Daddyo, I don’t wanna go, down to basement.” Sheesh.

      The Ramones suck.

      1. While I agree with the stunningly succinct sentiment above, even I get references to The Ramones.

    2. You don’t have to explain it. I was sure you weren’t really referencing a douchebag. But you couldn’t have left out that part of the lyric and still made a Ramones reference? Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice.

    3. I can’t believe I have to explain that, while it might be okay for Neil to write “down to basement”, it is your patriotic duty to add “the”.

OK Let’s get this straight. Kilwag is Randy. HouseofNeil is Neil. Two different people. W’ve known eachother a loooonngggg time, but we are two different people!

PS I would never get a Ramones song title wrong!!!!

And how come no one has done a British Ramones parody. Oh wait, they have, sort of… if you count Australia’s the Hard Ons. (Okay, more One Step Beyond homage than parody.)

          2. houseofneil on February 5, 2013 -

British Ramones parody? Are you mental? What were The Lurkers if not a Ramones parody? And then what about Erazerhead in 1981????

  9. Bondiboy66 on February 5, 2013 - Reply

The Hard Ons really weren’t anything like a Ramones parody. Sorry. But in their day they were a great band! Mach Pelican (Japanese band who moved to Australia)on the other hand were/are complete and utter Ramones imitators and will happily admit it!
    Here’s a clip to illustrate what I mean: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r6GPpSE0YAY

Were the Hard-Ons NOT a parody of American cock rock (which, okay, puts them One Step Beyond the Ramones, who were more like a broader parody of NewYork/America)? Did they Not cover a KISS song? And a MoTown song (“And Then [He Kissed Me] I Fucked Her”? And was not some of their appearance an homage to the Ramones’, and their stew in part a parody of the milieu the Ramones came out of? And yep, they were indeed great. But they were definitely a parody of somethin’ (Arabic Arabic Arabic), whereas those other bands just seem to be emulators (and I consider emulators specifically of the Ramones music to be less akin to a parody of them than a send up of their melting pot is). Now, if the Jam had covered a Ramones song, THAT would, to say the least, be a British parody of the Ramones (though you woulda had to hold a gun to Weller’s head).

      1. Frinstance, the Jam could dart out on stage and sing “Girl in the Sweater / Keeps Calling Back” before the Hard Ons came on, but anything they mashed up with a Ramones song would be That’s Just Wrong. (The Eton High School, Eton High School… Etc)

        1. Down In The Basement At Midnight?

      2. houseofneil on February 6, 2013 - Reply

again, British parody of The Ramones? The Lurkers of course. And then a few years later you had Erazerhead.

        1. Who said Brits were brighter than Aussies? Bondiboy gets it, but Neil seems to think parrot-y and parody have parity… like Calbonics speakers thinking eggy works for edgy. Parroting and parodying are not the same person, Neil!

            convict

    3. I’m with Bondboy66. I’ve always been a fan of the Hard Ons. Since that album with the skateboard on the cover and Girl in the Sweater. (probably quoting that wrong too) Neil! You made fun of me for liking them too, something about heavy metal Ramones rip off!!! I picked up a new Hard Ons release a couple years ago, slightly revised lineup, still good stuff.

      1. houseofneil on February 6, 2013 - Reply

yes I never liked the hard ons. Always thought they sucked.

  10. Down TO the Basement. Down TO the Basement. Down TO the Basement.

I’m a lousy typist. Always think faster than I can hunt and peck.

    1. Mate, ‘e doesn’t have JB style, ‘e’s from BondI. And on top of Bondi Beach blindness you’ve got Jersey Shore dyslexia… you never wrote “down the basement”, just “down to basement”. Could be worse… the other day, while working on a bowl, I found (after working at it for a while) that I was trying to sharpen a pen with a razor knife….

  11. Bondiboy66 on February 6, 2013 - Reply

Yeah fair enough – the Hard Ons certainly took their styling cues from the Ramones. But they were always just snotty urban punks born of immigrant families in the Western Suburbs of Sydney – I thought ‘Stairway to Punchbowl’ (one of the suburbs they hailed from) was a hilarious ode to their roots. And they are good blokes too – I met Ray (bass player) one night at a gig and had a beer or two with him, and a mate was friends with Kesh (their first singer/drummer)and again belted down quite a few beers with him on a few occssions. Unpretentious as – I recall Ray fulfilled an ambition with some royalties money by running out and buying the pristine 1970 Holden HG Kingswood he’d always wanted!

  12. You know what isn’t punk?

    Arguing over punk.
