Dew Stour street action

Omar Salazar talks about his input into the Dew Tour street contest to held on an actual downhill street. Omar’s take is interesting, but then there’s some news from the Dew Tour press release.

The Dew Tour, in conjunction with the athletes and industry veterans, created the Streetstyle discipline as a way to recognize the thriving action sports community in San Francisco.

Huh? I could have sworn Thrasher Magazine “created” the first streetstyle event. The contest in San Francisco happened over the weekend. I was confused by press releases with two different winners of street events, but it looks like they had a “skate street” contest and a separate “streetstyle” event.

It’s pointless to rail against the corporations involved in modern professional skateboard spectacles. Skateboarders more or less run these events anyway. It’s nice to see a little creativity in the format, even if it is rehashed creativity from 30 years ago. Wow. I can’t believe how long I’ve been obsessed with skateboarding…

  1. Cars, it’s about jumping on cars…

  2. Genius idea. It’s about time. They need to get some SF homeless obstacles and men in leather crossing the street to make it the most realistic street contest ever.
